Dealing With The Hiccoughs? (1 Viewer)

I've had hiccups before.

I know nothing about "hiccoughs"; I'd suggest a trip to the free clinic.

Hiccoughs?

Don't talk about hiccoughs? You kiddin' me?

Exhale completely. Hold it as long as you can stand. When you start getting swirly, inhale as slowly as you can manage. Works most of the time for me.

I do the opposite. Inhale and hold. Then swallow a bunch of times while holding. Kind of forces it down. A good belch after and it's gone.

I'd suggest eating an ample amount of prunes. Almost guaranteed you'll forget all about the hiccups.

I’ll be honest, I only clicked on this because of the spelling.

For me, my solution is a huge glass of water. Exhale completely, take the glass and start chugging slowly while inhaling.

I used an alternate spelling because it's correct, or more British. We can do hiccup.I was just looking for home-brews to stop a home-brew problem.

Thee exact opposite of this works for me, almost 90%

inhale and hold, then once the swirly starts ... you exhale under control, slowly.

frustrating trying to teach a drunk a$$ this though

Sugar works, but there’s a slight trick to it: you basically swallow the sugar dry without chewing.

There’s nothing special about the sugar per se except for its texture. That grainy texture against the back of the throat stimulates a nerve that short-circuits hiccups in most people. Other foodstuffs work as well: pulverized corn flakes, dry grits, etc. Anything granular. Salt would work but its unpleasant to down that much in one shot,

Thanks, my man. I'll try that. Sounds promising.  .

Fill your mouth with a liquid but don't swallow. Somehow get your head upside down, wait until all the blood rushes to it and a couple extra beats, then swallow. Stay upside down maybe a count to ten. Voila! Learned that from my sixth grade teacher and it's worked every time. Usually on the first try.

Thanks also, and and thanks to anybody who helped out.

I'm not going to publicly announce mastubory habits, however. Good looking, though, Strykerpks.

when someone has the hiccups I tell them to tell me right before they feel they are going to hiccup again...to say "now"....it gets them concentrating on the hiccup....often the hiccups go away for some reason....its like some Jedi mind trick or something...

Take as big a lung full as you can, hold it 10-15 seconds, slowly exhale through your nose. Expel ALL the air. Pause. Breath in very slowly and shallow through your nose. Should be gone

Chlorpromazine.  My wife went through a bout where she would have hiccups for days.  The doctors gave her this medicine and 60% of the time, it works every time.
