Ministry of Pain

Footballguy
Hello John and John,

It is time to start embracing what you have not what you wish you had. It is time to go ahead and call an entire game the way you allow things to unfold in the last 5 minutes of these football games. It's obvious that Tim Tebow can run an offense if it is similar to the spread that he ran in college and before that. It's time to find out what you really have and where it can go. The Broncos are now 5-5 and could be tied for 1st place after this weekend. Yes, Tim Tebow might actually will you into the playoffs. Stop listening to the experts who circle like buzzards just waiting to pick him apart after every loss by pointing out the obvious to the rest of the football nation. J&J, it's time to take the reigns off and allow Tebow to run an entire game like it's the last 5 minutes and the team is down by a score. Last night we saw a QB who believes in himself and the powers that be to lead him each week to a victory. We also saw another QB that can make plays but looks like he has absolutely zero confidence that he can win a game and has little faith in the powers that be. The guy with faith seems to have a major edge. It's time gentlemen, it's time.

Peace,

MOP

The power of Christ compels you to run the spread offense.
:lmao:What's surprising to me about the situation is how "unpolished" fox and elway have been wrt to media spin. They COULD HAVE said the right thing all along, i.e. that Tim's their guy and they have his back, etc. They COULD HAVE said these things EVEN IF they have no intention of keeping him around. Instead, the history is littered with blatently obvious petty comments about how he needs to improve, etc etc. The only reason I mention this is the winning we've seen in these last few games makes them both come across as cowardly bureacrats which will come into play when they eventually replace Tebow with a "traditional" quarterback and go back to losing games 13-10. In the end, they have done themselves a disservice in their public attitudes, and there's a good chance it will cost them both their jobs down the road.

They cut to Elway after the clock ran down and I don't think I've ever seen an exec look so miserable after a win...

For all the talk about Tebow not being able to chuck the ball, I think it stands to reason that with a lot of offseason work, he can improve in that area. Including with some help by Elway himself.

When Vick came in the league, he could throw the ball a country mile, but had well-documented inaccuracy. Yet you sure don't hear much about his accuracy issues anymore.

It's working with Tebow now, but he's going to have to learn to throw the ball coherently, particularly in 3rd and long situations. Defenses will eventually adjust.

Exactly, they flashed to a shot of him in his box and he is standing and clapping, all the while his jaw is clenched and you can just see him gritting his teeth.

Posted this earlier in another thread--from KFFL via RTSports:
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox stated that he will do whatever it takes with QB Tim Tebow in the offense to put the team in a situation to win games, including running the ball 55 times against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10. 'Do whatever the hell it takes,' Fox laughed. 'I mean, what the hell? You don't get points for style in this league. Let me tell you something: My man is really good in this offense. You know what I mean? If we were trying to run a regular offense, he'd be screwed.'

JETS pulled a LB and inserted an extra DB on the final drive. Hence the freedom for Tim to rush the ball more. I said the same thing, why didnt they Denver do this earlier but in retrospect the Jets D messed up but Tebow still executed.

Dear MOP,

Not all defenses will change what they were doing for 55 minutes of a game and allow us to go 95 yards in 4 minutes after we could only put up 134 yards of total offense for the rest of the game. In addition, the spread offense, like the wildcat, is simply not a sustainable offense for this league. We are running it out desperation right now and its working, but in the long run, it will get our QB killed and we cannot advance into the playoffs and in the playoffs while running this.

Thanks

Elway and Fox

Fixed.

What I think is interesting in watching him throw is that he seems to make very good decisions on who to throw the ball to. Most of his receivers where open and he seemingly just missed them by a foot or two by leading them too much. If he is able to correct that aspect of his game then he could take it to the next level.

I keep reading this argument everywhere, mostly among hopeful fans. But everytime an NFL "expert" on TV is asked about this, the answer is always the same: anything's possible, but it's doubtful that Tebow is going to ever get good enough to be even a decent NFL quarterback. Of course, the word "improve" is relative...

Thanks, not sure why I could not come up with thatsometimes when speaking about Tim I get a little tongue-tied

People said similar things about Vick.

From ESPN:

The Jets held the Broncos' rushing attack in check for the first 54:06 by countering with their base 3-4 defense and large substitute packages (32 of Denver's first 44 snaps came against a 3-4). The Broncos averaged 2.4 yards per carry (58 yards on 24 attempts) against the Jets' base defense during their first 11 drives. But the Jets strayed from that formula by putting an extra DB on the field for 11 of the Broncos' final 12 plays.

If this is true, then your OP appears to be completely off base, MOP.

why?the jets knew the power of Tebow, they feared it, they switched things up to try and stop it, it failed

The funny thing is, people were saying the same thing - except that the Jets defense would be the "real defense" that would be ready for him...until he beat them too.

comparing Tebow to Vick is silly. Just look at their throwing motions and it's not close...

I'm hoping Tebow can succeed, but the chances are they would need to have another QB prepped to run a 2 min offense if they fall behind cause he'll never be able to catch up from a 14-21 point deficit. Him winning depends a lot on the Broncos D playing well. I'm not sure he'll ever be a NFL passer

the postion he plays is quarterback, not passerpraise be to tim!

Tebow really willed that INT returned for a TD.
not willedinspiredevery player on that field has a little of Tim's light inside them, pulling them together, driving them to be more than they thought they could be, to come together as more than 11 individuals, to be the TEAM only he can make them be.

Fox should be happy that his crummy team is winning thanks to the D and Tebow. The Broncos got rid of their best WR, the RBs are always hurt, and they do not have a "real" QB. Lots of other teams and their fans would be happy to winning even if it is ugly.

Some more "random shots"...

1. The media is blaming Eric Smith for losing outside contain. What's interesting is no one seems to be talking about the two defenders who were dancing the lambada in the endzone with two receivers on the side of the endzone nearest tebow. Around the 12 yard line, you can see the defenders looking back, yet when tebow crosses the goal line these same two defenders are standing in the same place, continuing to hold hands with their respective receivers. This is where sports analysts talk about "business decisions" and where conspiracy theorists talk about the nfl being rigged. When I watch that play, I fail to understand why those two defenders didnt make a play at about the 4 yard line....they literally just stood there.

2. As noted, the accuracy problem with passing appears to be a mechanics problem versus a read issue. "Look at his feet!". It's correctable. Not to a Manning level, but certainly to a Vick level, perhaps higher. Then what kind of QB is Tebow?

3. Let's not lose sight of the fact that Elway and Fox traded away Brandon Lloyd. Not to beat a dead horse(face), but these two are really bugging me (and I dont even have a horse in this race). I feel like these two guys are looking a gift horse in the mouth. Oh God, I cant stop.

Contrary to popular belief Tim Tebow is not winning these games by himself. Although Tebow has been clutch at the end of games, John Elway should be concerned. I wouldn't blame Denver for taking a QB in the draft to compete with Tebow.

Is Arizona better off when they took Larry Fitzgerald over Phillip Rivers in 2004 draft? I think part of the reasoning is behind that decision was the belief that they could develop Josh McCown.

Tebow would be the first to agree with you

Yeah he'd tell you his prayers were answered in the 4th quarter. God was by his side...

Or they could just trade him to the Niners for pennies on the dollar. I think Harbaugh would love a QB with Tebow's work ethic, toughness, drive, and versatility.

I really think this is right--they now believe that they will win.
a friend said this"last night you saw one team that believed in their QB, and another that did not"

Dear MOPThanks for your letter and concern about our QB situation and play calling. If you recall during my early years as QB at Denver I was also facing a similar situation with head coach Dan Reeves. I would spend most of the game handing off to Sammy Winder and the Broncos offense would keep it close and control the clock. Then at the end of the 4th quarter I would pull out miracle after miracle and win games - it was good enough to beat Cleveland and get us to the Super Bowl in 86/87. So I know the what the so called experts say - but if I had to endure it so should Tim - you don't always get what you wish for. It will make him a better player , if we unleash the spread all game long ,he won't last as long.Peace,John

Dear John and John, Has anyone ever tried it for a full season or for a complete game in the playoffs? How do you know it won't work then? It seems to be working a lot better than what you were doing before, doesn't it? There are a lot of drop back QBs who are hurt right now, but Tebow is still running.
