Defending the Dolphins Draft (1 Viewer)

SI had Ginn has the 2nd best WR in this year's draft and projected him going in the mid-first round.
If they needed a WR more than OL or QB.
I agree with you on OL, but the Dolphins did get Beck. Maybe they believe Beck > Quinn.
Regardless, he's a fair piece older than Quinn, for sure. They had bigier needs than a WR. Ginn may have been targeted for a mid round pick. This was not a mid round pick. It was a top ten.

He's not a #1 type. Nobody but the Fins seem to think so. Speed doesn't automatically equal success.

I think in three years we'll still be talking about what they could have done with this pick. I think Ginn will not be worth his draft spot.

Die hard OSU fan...

I don't think he'll ever be a #1 type WR. We all know he's got big play ability, but I don't think he's a 90+ catch/8+ TD guy in the NFL, so that points me to a #2 WR at best. He juked his way to alot of yards in college and that won't carry over as much, same with breaking down corners and safeties in college based purely on speed. I actually think if he stayed on the defensive side of the ball in college and worked on those techniques he'd be getting compared to Deion right now out of the gate. His durability will be another big question no matter if he was WR or CB right now.

I hope I'm wrong though....

I know it is going to be a lot harder for teams to put the double team on Chambers with Ginn burning up the field. I would bump Chambers up based on this move, secondaries are going to have to respect Ginn's speed too much, and it should open up the offense a lot more for the Phins.

Also, Ginn could be what Peter Warrick was supposed to be (a multi-dimensional home-run threat whenever he touches the ball).
So . . . he might be Santana Moss? SMoss is what Warrick was supposed to be.Idiot Boxer - I disagree that the draft will be judged purely on what Quinn does. Like gatorman said, had they picked Okoye - or Willis - and passed on Quinn, and taken Bek, the pass on Quinn would not be harsh. Either of those D players could have a huge impact on a position of need.

The problem was taking Ginn, and that is the only problem, IMO. I like the rest of the draft. Had they picked Quinn in the first, I am confident they would have taken the best available WR with their second. While I also agree with you that would have been a superior move, I really believe the Ginn pick, and that pick alone, is the deathknell for their draft.
