Defense Analysis (1 Viewer)

Looking for some good insight on the defenses for this year beyond the basic rankings. Does anyone have any sources or insight on potential defenses to watch and reasons why certain teams may have the parts in place to finish as a top D this year?

It seems like the consensus top 5-10 Ds are just those that finished at the top last season. As we all know, this never happens, so the key is finding the defenses that may jump into the top 5 this year but don't require an early pick (like the Bears, Panthers & Steelers).

TIA

The DTBC is good, but it mainly relies on who the opposition is. How about some good info on the Ds themselves?

You may want to take a look at the Team Reports (links are at the very bottom of the left column on the FBG homepage). These include a write-up on the Team D.

i think the iggles return to top tier of defenses.

Howard and Bunkley should contribute great things this season and they had some key injuries last year that set them back dramamtically.

As to why there isn't a lot of analysis on D/ST, I think it has to do with the fact that so many people do IDP leagues now, so that takes a huge portion of the need for that time of discussion away. For those that do team defenses, some leagues defensive scoring parameters, like most the ones i play in, don't offer a lot of of reward in the way of picking good defenses. Most of the scoring comes from turnovers and defensive TDs, rather than yards allowed or points allowed. And while TOs may have a certain level of predictability, defensive and special teams TDs are really hard to predict. That's why I don't spend a ton of time on it.However, one defense that you can get after the first 10 or so are drafted that I like this year is Atlanta.

I 2nd the opinion that Philly returns to Top 5. They made some great additions this offseason, especially to the DL, which in turn will help the CBs to not have to cover as long. Another team in Jax, they have some good young talent, and every year seem to improve.

Not to direct anyone away from here but when it comes to team defense I go to PLindsey88 at another site.... cough..cafe..cough...cough...

His formula has worked well the last couple years with playing the waiver wire special of the week.
