Delanie Walker Hype Train Now Boarding (1 Viewer)

May be one of the most talented TE2s in the league. Is a converted WR, and with SF balling a little and Morgan gone for the season, he may get an increased opportunity - especially with defenses keying in on VD even more. What do you guys think? I like the opportunity and have been adding him across the board where I have an open roster spot - especially in 1.5 TE PPR.

In most leagues? I'd pass. In large leagues or leagues with extra points for TE receptions then absolutely grab the guy. Also pick up Kyle Williams if you're in a deep league. He's the #3 wr this weekend and has flashed some raw potential to become a very good slot wr.

Braylon Edwards will be back soon enough and this team still isn't passing the ball a bunch if they can avoid it. And with the way the defense is playing, they can indeed avoid airing it out. Alex Smith is playing well but he's averaging about 25 attempts per game.

Dude's been around a while. I think he's great, but he does't put up the numbers.
VD plays in front of him, so its pretty tough to get the ball if that's the case. He's an interesting guy to watch, and I've had my eye on him since early last year (dynasty).SF has used him out of the backfield, in-line, and in the slot. He's a big guy who has moves and when he gets in space, he's pretty good.If you're hurting at TE in larger leagues, he's definitely worth a flier. You could do worse.

He's a slick receiver with better natural hands than Vernon and better overall receiving skills. But he's a terrible blocker, which sorta works in his favor since Vernon is a stud blocker. In two TE sets, Walker is invariably a receiver on pass plays. Problem is, plays for him are specific and usually only about 3-4 per game. He's not worth stashing or rostering though he might get a TD in any given game, so he has luck value. But if you are starting him, it means something terrible has happened to your TE group.

why is it that not many seem to see the increased opportunity due to Morgan going down? The 49ers arguably have a better pair of TE's than the Pats, at the very least are 2nd to the Pats.

Walker is already being incorporated into the offense, unlike Kyle Williams so since Walker is a super sized WR anyway, it stands to reason that he is next in line in the pecking order if the 49ers can be innovative enough to use him well.

I don't trust that Braylon Edwards is going to be healthy and productive any time soon so at the very least, I think Walker must be rostered now in most formats BEFORE the breakout, or at least before we see the possible increase in targets. Since we are right in the middle of the bye week gauntlet, he could make for a sneaky start as a TE flex if you don't have the bodies at WR.

I think this is exactly right in the near-term (the next few weeks) -- the Niners are very short at WR and there's a good chance we see two TE sets a lot of the time.

Harnandez and Gronk have TOM BRADY passing to them. Any TE would look like Gates there. Most non-49er fans don't know about Delanie due to Alex Smith. He really is a great TE, and they will be using more 2 TE sets now.

He's been there awhile, and their receiving corps has been lacking the whole time. That didn't seem to result in increased opportunities before. Things might be different with Harbaugh there, so I'm not saying he's not worth a flier. Just to temper your expectations.
