DeMeco Ryans has torn Achilles (1 Viewer)

who is the guy to pick-up that will get the tackles? nixon?
Kubiak said they'd evaluate both Diles and Sharpton during the bye. Sharpton very unlikely to be an every-down player. Diles is the better pickup, but his upside is dependent on his position.

Maybe Texans will look to play alot of Big Nickel with Pollard as the safety-linebacker hybrid and a Wilson/Nolan safety combo. :lmao:

I think it will all depend on the health of Kevin Bentley. He is the veteran leader type and a big leader of special teams. If he gets healthy during the bye I think it could be very likely they would put him in the middle so that they can keep Diles on the weakside. If he doesn't get healthy enough, Diles is the logical choice to move inside.

Nixon is a non factor. He only played because the Texans only dressed 4 LBs total in week 6. When Demeco went down, Nixon was all that was left. Look for Bentley, Sharpton, and Adibi to get healthy during the bye.

Does anyone know what his future looks like for next season. Will he be ready for week 1? Will it take a year for him to get into gameshape like an ACL?

Recovery should be in the 6-9 month range. I'd expect him to be cleared for contact by camp. There aren't a whole lot of comps, but the most recent (I think) is Takeo Spikes, who has done pretty well despite sustaining the injury later in his career. Returning from an Achilles isn't quite the same as an ACL. The delay in recovery with the ACL is a position sense issue (the knee has to re-learn how to send signals to the muscles to protect itself). The issues with the Achilles will be range of motion and explosiveness. At age 27 (next September), Ryans should have an excellent chance to overcome those and return to form pretty quickly.
