Denard Robinson (1 Viewer)

Anyone know what his 40 time might be at? I hbe no idea how fast he is, but I'd think that'll be a bigger draft day bump for him than his weight. If he has elite speed to go with all that talent then he'll be just fine - someone will take a chance on him and give him a shot to show something.
He has ran track for Michigan and probably is a legitimate candidate to run 4.3.
Google says he ran a 10.44 100m in HS. So if he trained for the 100m in college, he'd probably be in the ultra elite speed category like Michael Bennett and Tim Dwight. Chris Johnson ran a 10.5 100m and we know how fast he is.

mccluster's 40 time was likely flukey.
True, Dexter tan a 4.4 on his pro day. I still think Denard could beat that. Rich Rod and the UM staff said he is the fastest guy they have ever seen.play fooball. It could be hyperbole, but Denard can fly.

Bump

I was going through my twitter feed and saw Jene Bramel tweet that he believes Gerhart's injury is likely a high ankle sprain.

Just now watching video replay of Toby Gerhart's ankle injury as I write up tonight's injury report. That's very likely a high ankle sprain.

If so, might be a good idea to pick this guy up?

From the news blogger:

Jaguars | Denard Robinson to see more action Tue Sep 23, 09:22 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson will start to receive more targets in the near future. He had eight carries for 33 yards in Week 3. 'I think that Denard has really showed to us during the last three weeks that he's earned the opportunity to get more reps,' head coach Gus Bradley said. 'We made a conscious decision this past week to get him more opportunities and he did a pretty good job so that will continue.'

Straight from the horse's mouth. Most will say "no thanks, it's the Jags", but the fact is that Gerhart seems to be banged up and not producing. Maybe it's the OL or maybe he's just not good. With Bortles coming in, the offense could improve a bit and if Gerhart doesn't respond, maybe this kid gets a shot.

Probably a decent rb3 option going forward. Would love to see him fill the sproles-light / woodhead / etc role. Don't see him as a work horse but toby sucks, so he might find himself as their top back.

you're seriously questioning whether fumbling is relevant to being an NFL RB?
Does he still have a nerve injury to his hand this year?
did he have nerve injury in his hand in 2011 when this piece was written?

Nerve injury or not, the fumbling issue is a relevant topic when discussing this player

His designation is a WR in Yahoo right now and I'm wondering if that's going to change. Is he WR in other places too?

Seems to be in the committee now so his role could expand and worth an end of the bench spot.

RTSports has him at RB. He is worth a spot on a deep bench or in dynasty.

Interesting discussion here on reddit about his designation and why it may not change...

Thanks for this. So it seems that his position could/should change relatively soon if he were to log the same amount of carries going forward. It's like Jimmy Graham's "TE" designation by the league, but yet him wanting to be paid as a WR. Same case, he plays the majority of his snaps at RB, but is only WR in my leagues on Yahoo. Hopefully that changes soon, but nothing I can do about that.

Yahoo is free.... thats what you get when you deal with free leagues. He's been an RB all preseason.

I'm holding him in some deeper leagues but I don't see too much upside. Gerhart isn't going anywhere, Storm Johnson is probably going to get some touches for the first time this week and the JAC OL couldn't open up holes vs. a bunch of 5th graders. Bortles isn't enough to save this team in fantasy or reality.

I see that he is now listed as RB,WR in my yahoo league.

The positional flexibility is nice, but is there any real value here?
In my view, one of Robinson/Johnson is the guy to own. I loved Storm coming out of college and can't wait for him to be healthy and show me something, but I just have a sneaky feeling about Denard getting valuable carries/catches weekly. That's the RBBC, not Gerhart/Robinson.

Bortles has made the team look better than Henne did, and as a result Gerhart/Robinson will have slightly better spots in the running game, but don't mistake that as a breakout offense. They are far from being competitive with their O-line and that's the x-factor everyone will be waiting on to see what everyone in that backfield, including Bortles, can do.

Jacksonville Jaguars running backs Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson split the first-team reps at practice on Thursday, according to coach Gus Bradley.

With Toby Gerhart (foot) missing his opportunity, the Jaguars are going to look to improve their league-worst rushing attack. They weren't much better in Week 6 without Gerhart -- Robinson racked up only 22 yards as the top back and Storm added 21 yards to go with one touchdown. Johnson had three more touches than Robinson, but the latter was on the field for 11 more snaps. It'll likely be a similar scenario for the foreseeable future unless either guy separates himself.

This week, they'll take on the Cleveland Browns at home. The Browns have been giving up plenty of points, with the exception of last week against the Steelers, and they are giving up the third-most rushing yards in the league.

Fantasy impact: This is not a great scenario for fantasy owners. Johnson is probably the better player to own since Robinson is not going to be an every-down back. Neither are options in most leagues this week.

Have Shady on a bye, so I'm starting Denard in my PPR keeper league over: C. Johnson, Mason, Cunningham, D. Freeman

Gerhart is out and he's splitting carries at home against the Browns. Time to show something!
