Dennis Green - "We threw the ball too much" (1 Viewer)

Shouldn't be too surprising, as Denny found out the hard way you can't win without a running game and throwing the ball 40-50 times a game. If the AZ defense also improves, that could be another dent in the passing game stats.IMO a slight dropoff should be expected by both guys, although given that both are high-quality receivers, it could be across the board. That said, I'd lean a bit more towards Fitz since he's a long-time favorite of Denny.

Fewer passes isn't necessarily a bad thing. If the Cards can establish some semblance of a run game, it could actually take pressure off the deep passing game and enable both WRs to snag a lot more big gains.Twenty 10-yard receptions is the same as ten 20-yard receptions.

He better get a RB while he's at it.  Wonder if he'll make a play for Onterrio Smith.
I think Bennett is a more likely candidate.
If that's the case we can count on Boldin and Fitzgerald to continue to flourish.
Good point. Although even if Bennett comes in, I don't think it would be to carry the load, but rather challenge Arrington or serve as the home run hitter.

exactly...when your offense is one-dimensional, & defenses KNOW you will throw evey time, that presumably makes for a lot more three & outs & short drives... more balance could/should = more sustained drives... could equal same or similar amount of receptions & maybe even more TDs?

if we use green's old MIN offense as a template... they had a solid running game with robert smith... & there were still plenty of receptions to go around for moss & carter.

Drafting at the #10 spot, there will be good RB options available. I think they will go that route rather than some junk like O Smith and M Bennett. If they go with a veteran, most likely they will focus on some decent free agents, not the junk referred above.

If not for Chester Taylors late season injury and then missing the opportunity to prove he can be a feature Rb in the league I think he might be a good fit.He does not have the breakaway speed that Green has seemed to covet from the Rb position either though.Perhaps Ahman Green is the better choice for this offense if the Slack let him go. Green is familiar with what he is capable of and Ahman is a good recieving Rb as well.

With one of the top 3 OTs practically guaranteed to be there, I think Denny would be much better served going that way. RBs can be found in FA, OTs cant.

:goodposting: Exactly. That was one of the worst run blocking offensive lines I have ever seen.

:goodposting: AND if you improve the line - you might still be able to teach JJ Arrington how to be an NFL quality RB.

I'd think Denny will bring in a FA RB that does not have injury or drug baggage who can teach a young guy what it takes. If he brings in Bennett or th Whizz I'd have to question his judgement.
