Dental Tourism (1 Viewer)

Most of my old dental work is falling apart: implants, bridges, etc. Its coming almost all at once it seems (I think the vibrating toothbrush may have some culpability). Anyway I need a LOT of work, including multiple implants. I'm getting dental plans of $40K - 60K.

It appears I could get comparable work in Canada< Mexico, Costa Rica or about anywhere but USA for about 10-20K. I'm retired now and I am very reluctant to spend an extra 40-50K of my savings on teeth.

Has anyone here done the dental tourism thing?  I sure would like more info on the safety and feasibility.

I realize it would probably entail three trips, but even with the airfare, it would be significantly cheaper.

You may need to get a lower HP model if it is causing this much damage.

I've done some reading on the Mexico stuff, and it seems completely above board. Loads of reviews for various docs

Mexico seems too unstable for me. I think I'd be more comfortable in CR. There are a lot of great reviews for the Mex clinics, but I do have hesitation in trusting online reviews.

I've resorted to buying prescription meds in Mexico when we go for our annual vacation there... because our insurance won't give me the meds that actually work for me (and are out of my price-range), and will only pay for meds that I already know don't work. I mentioned in the Tinnitus thread that I'm at a point where I need hearing aids... but insurance won't cover that either, because #### me.

sucks you have to resort to this too. but I guess :blackdot:  for the dental work too... good luck, gb- hope you're able to find something that works.

I have a friend who does the Mexico stuff both for dentistry and for prescription meds.  It's a fairly well-established thing between SD and Tijuana at this point.  You park on the US, take an uber to meet them, and then they uber you back up through a dedicated medical services boarder crossing (one of the lanes is marked as such).  He gets his sons growth hormone this way and has done 2 dentist things as well.  Both the dentist and prescription guys are Americans setup in Tijuana just to service fellow Americans.   For the meds, his SD doctor works with the guy in Tijuana to get the script filled.

That seems pretty safe.
