Denver DST vs. Ravens (1 Viewer)

Just wondering what everyone is doing with the Denver DST this week. They've been a solid unit all year. Semifinal week in most leagues this week and they're playing the Ravens. Just curious if people are rolling with them, or choosing a weaker unit with a better matchup (Lions vs. ARI, or Dolphins against the Jags. Any good insight into their production against the Ravens?

I'm rolling with Cinci or Det over Den in one league and then STL over them in another. I don't like them away as much and Ravens are still a good offense at home.

I put in a waiver claim for Detroit, but I'm honestly still about 50/50 on who I will go with. Denver has served me well, getting me 10+ points every week since I picked them up in week 8 (usually quite a bit more), but this is a tough matchup. Plus, the Detroit matchup is so good.

I think that if Hoyer gets the start, I'll probably go with Denver as opposed to the unknown factor of what Hoyer will do (it's probably bad, but it's at least enough of a wrinkle to make me question the pick).

I've been rolling with DEN all year but I'm leaning towards Cinci D due to the matchups this week.

Also have DEN and CIN D's. I purposely picked up CIN a few weeks ago for this week's game, but now that PHI showed some life last Sunday it's not looking as juicy as it once did. DET is also on our wire and thinking about putting in a claim. I'm holding DEN for week 16 if I'm lucky enough to make it thru this week( at home vs CLE) but this week is definitely a head scratcher. Cam Cameron was also fired yesterday, so not really sure how that affects the BAL offensive scheme or performance. A lot to consider.

Ravens have struggled big time against speed rushers. Additionally, their best Olineman - Yanda - suffered a serious ankle injury in OT against the Redskins. McKinnie is in Harb's doghouse and hasn't played much all year. I'm not sure how Den Sp Teams are playing, the Ravens have been playing well in that phase.

I'm also rolling with Cincy over Denver this week even though I am starting Bryce Brown. Phily isn't as good as they last week as the Bucs secondary is gawd awful. They really should have won that game easily but the corners failed to make plays with butterfingers. I don't expect Phily to dodge the same bullets against Cincy. Not expecting a high ceiling for Cincy but a reasonably high floor. Denver plays a playoff caliber team at home, and it could be another shootout. Philly seems safer to me.

Denver and Seattle here,

Been going back an forth on who I was going to start, but going Seattle.

Like someone else mentioned, Baltimore is a playoff contender that's pretty

good at everything just not great at anything, Denver is probably safe though.

I'm rolling with San Diego this week. I've ridden the Broncos for a while. My issue isn't really with them, it's more with the Raven's offensive game plan, which doesn't really take many risks. They run with Rice, they throw a lot of underneath stuff. I just don't think they expose themselves to the big defensive play.

Now with a new OC, that may change THIS week, but I'm not willing to risk it. Good point re. Yanda, but I still don't see them giving up typical Denver points.

If any of these are on your waivers I like these match ups better because Flacco plays well at home

Detroit - Arizona is a mess but don't expect Detroit to shut them out or put up the gaudy numbers that Seattle and other defenses have put up this year, I am thinking around 3 or 4 sacks and 2 or 3 turnovers but they will give up 10 + points, maybe if you are lucky on turnover gets taken back.

Miami - Henne will give them some turnovers, Shorts maybe out again as well which will hurt, and Miami is very good against the run which will force more drop backs.

St. Louis - This is my sneaky play, Peterson will get his but the Rams have 39 sacks this year already and Ponder hangs onto the ball too long and turns it over, add to the fact that this team has had a knack for taking turnovers to the house and they could be in for a big day. This is the wildcard though because if Peterson goes nuts again they might not ever throw the ball and you could be screwed. If you are looking to hit a homerun this is it.

Didn't have enough FAAB remaining to secure the Lions, so now need to decide between the Rams and Vikings as I don't think the Broncos are a decent start this week. My league is very heavy in DST scoring so it's a big decision unfortunately

As I'm entering a bidding war on the Lions the Rams are really starting to grow on me. ADP will get his, but no doubt the Rams will play them tough at home. I just can't play Denver at Baltimore, and Steelers secondary scares me vs. the Cowboys. I may go Rams..

Definitely not starting, Baltimore is too good at home. Been planning here for a while. Have had Miami stashed in two leagues, but was able to waiver claim Detroit in one last week. So, Detroit in one and Miami in the other.

Does anybody think Caldwell stepping in as the OC helps the Denver D since Manning and Caldwell were together for all those years in Indy. Who would know his tendencies better than #18.

Caldwell's not coaching against Manning, he's coaching against the defense.

And Manning would NEVER talk to the Denver D about Caldwell's tendencies since he's not directly playing against Caldwell  IF Caldwell has tendencies, Manning is smart enough to know them. If Caldwell has tendencies, I'm sure Denver's Defense knows them well by now. That said, Indy's offense w/ Manning is a lot different than what Caldwell has to deal with in Baltimore, so I'm not sure how much any tendencies will actually be carry-overs in this offense.

Last sentence - nail, meet head. Caldwell's gameplan isn't going to be the same with Flacco and Ray Rice as it was with Manning and garbage at RB.

Went with the Rams, keeping the Broncos and playing them next week at home vs. the Browns. In bidding war for Patriots as a back up but Broncos at home OK for me.

I could be wrong, but I'm liking the Rams vs. the one-trick pony Vikings at home. We'll see.

Cinci D worked out better than expected.

They've been solid for me so I'm going to stick with them.

There might be better matchups but that doesn't always play out.

They are a good squad so I'm going to roll them out again and hope for the best.

Every week. Matchups be damned.
I just picked up Miami vs. jax. Would you still roll w/ the broncos?
Interesting question--I'll try to answer. I'm in two leagues with radically different scoring systems, and have Denver D in one. In that league they are third overall behind Chicago and Cincinnatti (close) and just ahead of NYG. That league gives points for low points against, and since their bye week they have moved up to third from a mid tier ranking. In that league Miami is the 15th ranked defense. In the league I do not have the Denver Defense they are ranked second overall scoring, 7th "against offensive players", and this league only gives bonus points for shutouts. In that league Miami is the 16th ranked defense.

In that second league the RTSports site supplies a ranking of how teams allow points to the Defensive teams they play against. This is of course according to the league scoring parameters, and this league does not count for points scored. Denver plays against Baltimore, which allows the 10th LEAST points to defensive teams, while Miami plays against Jax which allows the 7th MOST points. Over the last three weeks that amounts to a 2 1/3 ppg difference in this scoring system.

Particularly with defensive Team play--which I think is less susceptible to matchups than individual play--I tend to play toward the stronger team rather than against the weaker opponent. For that reason Denver to me is an every week play, since I feel like across the board they will make their own breaks. If I have to carry two teams according to league roster requirements I might look at extra details such as home vs away games but otherwise I'm just rolling with strength vs whatever.

Our Def/st scoring is pretty standard. I am leaning towards Miami as the higher floor play as I think they will allow less points. I will probably flip flop back and forth a few more times before gametime tomorrow. Good info though.

I have been going back and forth on Denver and Miami, but will probably stick with Denver for a few reasons:

1.) Denver has been consistent.

2.) Miami has a good defense but their offense is problematic.

3.) Having a good offense helps Denver's defense
