Denver RB next year? (1 Viewer)

I know that it is an impossible question to answer, but who do you think is the front runner to be the starting RB for Denver next season? I am asking because I am in a keeper league and was thinking of picking up Ryan Torain for next year. What do you think?

Not a big Torain fan. too much of a plodder, certainly injury prone, doesn't run with a good pad level.I believe that it will be a Hillis/Alridge RBBC and Denver will draft another RB - no higher than the 2nd round IMHO.Again, very impossible question but that's my take.

LeSean McCoy

I have to think Peyton Hillis will be a big part of the mix.

5 YPC, 6 TDs and 500+ total yards in 6 games played.

Thought he said he was staying in school.
I'll believe it when i see it. Kevin Smith and others said they were staying in school last year, but they changed their mind once they smelled the $.

pull up a list of all the current RBs in the NFL and ones that might get in the NFL next year , close ur eyes and pick one, that would be a great answer

Hillis was getting it done in all ways.
That may be the case, but I'd bet about a billion dollars that Shanahan won't go into next season with just this same motley crew. The Broncos will add a high profile back (or two) into the mix. I don't think their leading 2009 rusher is on the roster right now.

Rudi Johnson, Edgerrin James, and Kevin Jones all should be on the market. The seem like the reclamation projects that Denver likes (see Travis Henry)

Except that Henry had a very good season before Denver signed him.
yes, and two bad seasons before that. He was far from a sure thing at that point.
It's still a poor comparison - coming off of a good season, it was obvious he had something left in the tank. We can't say the same for the three guys you mentioned. Henry really wasn't a reclamation project, he was just a talented scumbag. And Henry did have a very strong start to the season - I believe he was the league's leading rusher after week 5 or so. But then the whole drug thing happened and he had a few injuries and the rest is history - now he awaits trial for cocaine trafficking.

I believe Ryan Torain is their best RB (& it's not even close). Kind of hard to say what he'll do next year, but Torain could be huge in 2010. Very good chance to be a stud, IMO.

I held onto Kevin Jones for a long time this year in a dynasty league mainly because he's a FA and I thought he could be gold next year in Denver. Sadly, roster space finally put the squeeze on him. I'll be kicking myself if he winds up there. With an extremely light workload this year it might be just what he needs to shine. He'll go into the year healthy and he won't be playing for the Lions. Those were his two biggest problems. I still think he's a pretty talented back. Not All Pro, but talented.

I'll go witha. Derrick Wardb. Willis McGaheebut they're more likely to draft a RB early, as you've said.

yeah, they'll bring in another young back - but not with a premium pick. They are going to spend some $$$ to get an impact player on defense (Julius Peppers, etc)the great thing about guys like Alridge/Hillis - they're effective AND cheap.

not on roster

no way he stays with same roster and risks another nightmare season of RB musical chairs-even if it's a fluke, they just can't "stay pat"

Me?

they will not draft a rb....
They do need alot of help on defene, but after playing RB roulette for the last several years, i think they will draft one on the first day.
 their ranked 28th in the NFL in defense....did you watch the game vs the Panthers?
I think you should re-read what i wrote.
misread, sorryHave you bought any crappy lately?

Peyton Hillis-RB-Broncos Feb. 25 - 10:25 am et

The Broncos are believed to be looking for a running back "who can break off a long run in the first half, and protect a lead by moving the sticks in the fourth quarter."

Peyton Hillis is the closest thing to an every-down back on the current roster, but he won't be breaking off many long runs. Even if he plays the Mike Alstott role, the Broncos will need a Warrick Dunn type to pair with him.

a new coach further complicates the matter (if that's possible).

I would think the owner would make every move possible to make sure the new coach succeeds and moves forward positively from the Shanny era in the fans eyes.

McDaniels ran a fine offense in NE and the RB situation there drove FFers nuts. I wouldn't be surprised to see them add one scat back in the draft or free agency to couple with Hillis, and run a high powered passing O attempting to replicate what we saw in NE. With the pieces they currently have in place (Cutler, Marshall, Royal, Scheffler, and a good pass catching back in Hillis), I think it makes sense for McDaniels to stick to his NE formula, which would make me happy as a Denver football fan, but unhappy as a Denvery RB owning fantasy player.
