Derrick Ward RB NYG (1 Viewer)

He's a very nice producing RB in a PPR and points per yardage league - not a lot of TD's though. Question is, how long can he continue ? Will Jacobs ever come back ? Will Droughns vulture any more TD's ? Thoughts ?

BJ will play in week5 no doubt, but it's a RBBC in NY thats for sure. No way the coaches will bench Ward . Can be BJ SD/GL only, but Ward is good at receiving and fast so third downs he's in.

I dumped Ward yesterday for Ron Dayne in a TD heavy league (no that didn't work out very well) and I'm trying to package Jacobs for Portis.

why didn't you keep ward and package him WITH jacobs?i'm assuming you needed a starting rb yesterday and some of the websites listed ward as OUT for yesterday's game. i'm sure that screwed up more than a few people.

Next week, I would expect them to roughly split carries. I don't see Droughns figuring in the equation mid term to long term. He might get the some short yardage carries and the occassional third down.. but I see Ward and Jacobs splitting series.. with Brandon being in on the crunch time third downs and goal-line carries. Ward being in the on the passing downs.. long term.

That said.. it all depends on how BJ runs. If he isn't into the flow .. I would expect Ward to get the majority of the carries. If BJ is rolling.. they might want to rest Ward and his ankle some. If Jacobs isn't effective, I would expect Ward to get the bulk of the work until Jacobs proves he can be effective.

Long story short... nothing is written in stone.. but in an ideal world, for the Giants.. they would split carries.. with the game dictating who gets the majority of the carries based on situational opportunities. ie Like Tiki and Brandon last year.. but with Brandon getting more work on first and second down.

You really need to sit on this situation and let it play out for a week or two.

Nobody knows precisely how this will play out.

All the Einsteins on this board acting like they do ("Ward is firmly entrenched in RBBC!," "Jacobs will take over!," etc.) are full of

Watch a Giants game before posting your "bs". Ward is good.

Cough has always leaned toward THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. I was shocked he let Tiki get it all for so long.

Nice move.
In a TD heavy league? TD Only? define heavy? In a TD only league this was probably a very good move as Jacobs is likely to take most Ward TDs away with his GL work.

You're right, noone really knows, but from what I've seen, Coughlin would be an idiot to not keep Ward playing, a lot.The one problem with Ward is a total lack of TDs. (wasn't this also Tiki's problem?)

I see an RBBC with Ward moving to a 3rd down back.
Me too.Jacobs should see most of the work, with Ward spelling him from time to time on third downs. Of course, Jacobs would be the man at the goaline.

Yep, it didn't look like Ward was going to play and I needed a body. I have Morris but my line-up needed to be in by 11 MT and it sounded to me like the Maroney injury was BB playing with Marvin Lewis' head. I won the matchup and I'm high points for the week with 11:21 left to play and the nearest team one point behind me and playing Housh. Oops. Housh just had a catch and they've tied me. Not playing Morris is gonna cost me $50! Dammit.

Uhh yeah, thanks. Yer cool dood. Pretty easy to sit back and judge, huh? Ron Dayne against the Atlanta run D doesn't sound like a better play to you than a questionable Ward against a stout Eagles D?

However, I see Ward spelling Jacobs more often than I would like. As long as they stay with BJ in the RZ he's the guy to have.
