Derrick Ward's Value Long Term (1 Viewer)

With Jacobs supposedly healing quickly and not going to be out 5 weeks, does Ward have significant long term value? I picked him up in a league thinking that Jacobs would be out for a number of games...perhaps even more than originally thought. Even when Jacobs returns, do you guys see Ward getting carries?

I have been offered Julius Jones for Ward in a PPR league and am thinking about taking it. Need some depth as I have LJ, ADP, Tatum, Norwood and Ward. Would you guys take the Jones for Ward deal?

Of course you take that deal..

I would take that. Even if you are an MB3 believer and think that Jones will end up being the secondary back in that RBBC, I still think you are better off with Jones than Ward.

Ward MIGHT be good for a fill in these next few weeks. After that, does anyone expect he will take a large number of carries from Jacobs? I don't.

I just traded away Ward for Braylon Edwards. I'm weak at receiver and have MJD/Bush with Norwood/L Washington on the bench. I was happy to get some WR value for Ward.

I guess the other Ward/Jacobs threads must have fallen off the first page

Ward is going to split carries (albeit getting a larger chunk of them) for 2 maybe 3 weeks. If you can trade him away from a guy who could produce RB2 or even solid RB3 numbers all year you jump on it.

I'd take a solid WR3 for him at this point.

Good points here. In fact, who even knows if Ward will be the primary guy with Jacobs out. Yes, he had the majority of the carries last Sunday, but perhaps Droughns will play a part as well. Jumping on Jones would appear to be the smart call. If there are any contrary thoughts, please post them.

that about covers it. i am a jacobs ( and julius)owner and only picked up ward because he cleared waivers and i had an expendable wr. no one can tell you they know how the carries will shake out now or when jacobs comes back. i am playing juliusover ward this week anyway until i see what is going on.

How can you start a thread like this when the Pats have been fined and punished for using a camera to catch devensive hand signals of the Jets?

??????????????How did you get Braylon Edwards for Ward?????That's sick!!!

I mean, trading Ward away for anyone that's worth starting on a fantasy football team is the right thing to do.

But besides that, strictly talking about Ward, he could be decent. Yah, Jacobs may be healing quick or whatever...but the guy will just get hurt again soon. Many people including myself questioned if he could handle the load all by himself and that was answered week 1. He isn't just gonna come back in week 5 and all of a sudden be this picture of health and bulldoze over people. He's gonna be a mess all season long and when it's all said and done when the season's over:

A. Coughlin is going to be fired

B. They'll keep Manning

C. They will realize Jacobs isn't the guy

D. Tihki Barber MAY come back to the Giants next season.

A sneaky play will be at the end of this year in a dynasty league to pick up Tihki Barber if you have the space.
