determining playoff participants (1 Viewer)

How would you guys determine a tie between 3 owners?? our tiebreakers are 1st head to head 2nd since it's going cross division is total pts.

So when I do head to head I gave the last 2 playoff spots to the 2 teams who had the most wins(heah to Head ) out of the group of 3. Two of the teams had 2 wins the other team had 1 win so he ends up on the outside looking in. Am I wrong

In one league, we eliminated the cross division HTH as a tiebreak for playoff spots, and went straight to total points scored. By doing this, we removed any unbalanced schedules from the equation AND satisfied the minority contingent of owners that wanted points to be how all wildcard teams were determined. I prefer this method because it is straightforward and easy to understand, and IMO, fair.

I understand that but what if the rules have already been established you would have to live with it now and try to make changes next season correct??

The 3 teams that tied 2 of them are from the same division They all played each other at least 3 times so team a played team b 2 times team b played team c 2 times team c played team 1 once. So even though it's a little unbalanced not that much of a difference.

combine all 3 teams HTH records against each other and the best combined HTH record gets the spot. That's how it works in my league but want to change it to total points for ease next year.

I need to add that I had to determine 2 playoff spots
Only one team should advance per tie breaking scenario. So 1st determine who wins the 3 way tie. Then start the tie breaking scenario all over again with the remaining 2 teams

if 2 teams get in, in our league the division leader decided first and then the wildcards. If both fighting for the wildcards the top 2 with best combined HTH would get in.

You can only do the combined head to head if the three teams played each other the same number of times. I think I read that two of the teams were in the same division and had played each other more than the third team had. In that case you have no choice but to use total points.

You could do a head to head sweep (applicable only if one team has defeated each of the others or if a team has loss to each of the others)

head to head makes no sense if the teams in question have not played each other the same number of times. consider this a lesson learned in rules-writing.

you have to go to total points.

It makes sense if one team is undefeated against the two teams they are tied with.Or if one team is winless against the two teams they are tied with.
