Detriot players week 17 (1 Viewer)

Does anyone out there have a good word or idea on what the Lions plan to do at GB this weekend? Are they going to play most of the game? I have Stafford and Detriot RBs, and I am playing vs Calvin in our 2nd week of finals. I am up 8, close. I have Tebow and they host KC, thats the safer due to playing time, but tebow magic might be over with. Who knows. I'd like to start Stafford. But cant afford him to play only into the 2nd quarter. Playing v Romo, who can either be huge or awful Sunday night. Going down to the last game, likely last few minutes. Ugh!!!

Practice report from the Freep earlier this week:

Lions coach Jim Schwartz indicated Monday he wouldn't rest starters in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. The Lions (10-5) can wrap up the NFC's No. 5 seed with a victory over the Packers or a loss by the Atlanta Falcons.

Calvin and Stafford are must start studs this week. I never understood those thinking that the Lions would not want to go all out and win. I would worry about Kevin Smith this week though. They need to get him healthy for the playoffs and he has not been all that effective since he hurt his ankle.

The Lions signed Joique Bell -- dropping Aaron Brown? I think.

On Tuesday, there was speculation Smith won't play in the Detroit Free Press.

However, he practiced in full on Wednesday, which makes me question that assumption now.

Stay tuned.

This is a pretty good article on the implications. Both Lions and Falcons are still fighting for the 5th seed (which on paper looks light years better than the 6th seed). Lions play an early game so they should be going full bore for a W.

Versus the Packers backups on defense the entire 2nd half at minimum, I wouldn't even entertain the idea of sitting Stafford or Calvin.

Lions will play their healthy guys the whole game to win.

Maybe Kevin Smith sits and they run alot of Keiland and MoMorris sprinkle in Joique
For someone truly desperate at RB, I could see picking up Joique if one's league still allows waivers this week. Why not see what he can do in a real game while saving the most injured area of the team.

:goodposting: If I am the Lions, I am risking injuries to get the 5 seed. If you are the 5 seed, you have to go through the Giants/Dallas who are a combined 8-7 at home and then GB who is 7-0 or as the 6 seed, you go through SF who is 7-1 at home and then NO who is 7-0. One road is hard the other looks daunting. Also, Detroit has already won @ Dallas and lost at home to SF.

well, sounds like I am going with Stafford and have to hope Detriot limits Calvin on gameday to prevent injury. :-)

Thanks for the updates and info.

Now if only Patrick Willis was a sure thing this week, I'd feel a lot lot better.

Thought for sure Megatron was a go this weekend, but sitting out of practice two days in a row has me a little concerned.

Swing for the fences with Calvin or take the sure points with Denarious Moore? Pass the Tums!

Detroit will go full-bore. Pack? Eh, no one knows for sure, but my gut says they play the first half, and MAYBE a little into the 3rd quarter. They have a first round bye, so they won't want to go into their first playoff game rusty.

ESPN scroll said the weather for tomorrow in GB is in the 20s with 80% chance of snow and 20-30 mph winds.

Could affect the passing games...also, if there is a lot of snow, I wonder if that would lead to less playing time for Kevin Smith due to his ankle?

I see a number of scenarios in which Kevin Smith could be rested as the game progresses, but it's possible he plays more snaps than any other Detroit RB, too. Tough call.I think Detroit will attempt to get Calvin Johnson the single season Detroit TD record for WRs if they can. He's currently tied with some dude from 1952.I'd be concerned if I was running Stafford out there given his previous windy day debacle in Chicago. Of course, he also had the broken finger/glove thing at that point and he's playing much better right now.Detroit has a pretty big range of possibilities tomorrow. I'm passing on Stafford (for Romo), K.Smith and Hanson; playing Johnson and the Lions D/ST. All I'm playing for is total points for the week and the season, however. Playing it safe as I am currently in the lead. Hope it doesn't amount to playing prevent defense.

I'd appreciate an update on this from Packers homers in the morning.

Weather channel calling for 27 mph winds from 1-4 pm

Weather Underground calling for 23 mph winds at 3 pm

AccuWeather calling for 30 mph winds and gusts of up to 55 mph

Note: These links may change by Sunday morning as I think they are relative to the time at which you visit the site. So you may need to click around a little to get the hourly forecasts.

Some type of Wind Advisory is shown on all three sites for Green Bay on Sunday.

No guarantee that the wind is as strong as predicted, but potential gusts of over 50 mph are concerning, to say the least.

The 50 mph wind gusts were last night/early morning today.Weather forecast for the entire game: steady 15 mph wind gusting to 24 mph. 29 degrees with light snow falling the whole day. Snow should not accumulate on Lambeau but will be messy.

My take on this weather situation: The midwest has had unseasonably warm weather all winter. This is the first ugly weather of the season. The Packers have not even had a chance to practice in ugly weather this year. I am a few hours south of this weather pattern but it is really messy this morning - very windy and wet. I could see the Packers not even start key players because they 1) nothing to play for and the field conditions will be slick and unpredictable 2) they have not practiced in nasty weather so they are not ready mentally and game wise for this scenario. just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the cam link, and I'm tilting toward agreeing with your comments. Even on the Detroit side, is NOT playing the Saints important enough to risk your moneymakers in that slushy, slippery mud hole? CJ's been nursing a sore achillies all week. As bad as playing the Saints would be, it would be 10X worse without your primary weapon.

Wind is INSANE at Lambeau today..And cold..It's going to effect the passing games bigtime..Obviously the kicking games too..

Has the wind calmed down any?

Glad I didn't listen to any of the weather experts in this thread. Never, and I mean NEVER bench your studs due to inclement weather. I think more often than not, bad weather helps the offensive players.

Calvin Johnson will trigger a $4.5 million bonus if he finishes today as the NFC's leader in touchdowns and receiving yards, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.Source: ESPN.com
That money is in the bank. Jordy Nelson would have to catch 4 while Megatron gets kept out of the end zone.
He's only about 70 YDS ahead of Cruz though, with the Giants playing tonight
Update? Guy is a freaking monster.
