*** Detroit Lions @ Cleveland Browns (1 Viewer)

Nobody watching this game?

From NFL.com it looks like K.J. had a nice run and a nice reception both called back. Just wondering how he looks.

Browns had a very nice drive. Frye has been shakey. Droughns and Harrison both look very sharp. The offensive line looks decent run blocking, like garbage pass blocking. The Browns defense has shut the Lions offense down so far, but it has only been 3 plays.

P.Dawson kicks 73 yards from CLV 30 to DET -3. D.Ellis to DET 19 for 22 yards (B.Pool).

1-10-DET 19 (3:14) K.Jones left tackle to DET 21 for 2 yards (A.Davis).

2-8-DET 21 (2:35) K.Jones left tackle to DET 21 for no gain (L.Bodden).

3-8-DET 21 (1:56) (Shotgun) J.Kitna pass deep left to E.Drummond to DET 37 for 16 yards (R.Brown).

1-10-DET 37 (1:20) K.Jones right end to DET 36 for -1 yards (O.Roye).

2-11-DET 36 (:38) J.Kitna pass incomplete short left to S.Bodiford.

3-11-DET 36 (:33) J.Kitna pass incomplete short left to R.Williams (R.Brown).

4-11-DET 36 (:28) N.Harris punts 43 yards to CLV 21, Center-D.Muhlbach. D.Northcutt to CLV 16 for -5 yards (D.Bullocks).

How did Kevin Jones look on that run? Did he rip off 32 yards as a result of the hold or get it on his own?

Holding penalty, play was brought back.
Holding on Cleveland? Why was Detroit not allowed to decline it?
:bag: I'm not sure what is going on. Anyone watching this game?

Not sure, I was hoping someone is watching the game and can give some insight into that and the play being called back because of defesive holding.

He didn't run for 32 yards, he ran for -2, from the 34 to the 32, defensive holding gave them 5

Ahhh a misprint. Thanks for clearing that up. He didn't run for 32 yards, he ran for -2, from the 34 to the 32, defensive holding gave them 5

In my region, the NFL Network will be showing this game in about 3 1/2 hours on tape delay so I'm recording it. I may be going out tonight, but I'll post a recap of what I see tomorrow morning.

Not watching the game but it looks like Martz has a long way to go with these guys. Judging by the stats.

You all don't understand, the Browns may have one of the top defenses in the league this year, you can laugh all you want at this, but this unit will be strong and fast.

Quick recap of the Lions in the 1st half......

Absolutely nothing going on the ground. Pretty nice playcall to get K.Jones the receiving TD.... 1st and goal from the 5 and a designed swing pass to him in the flats that he ran in untouched.

Kitna had a few really nice throws with pressure in his face, and he also had a few bad throws with no one around him. Roy Williams made a nice play on his 40 yard reception. He had coverage beat but Kitna underthrew him. Came back to the ball and got popped just as he caught it.

Lions run defense looked pretty shaky and Droughns carved them up on his long run. Pass rush looked good, and Bly made a nice play on his interception. Really bad throw by Frye downfield. Fernando Bryant even stuck a few guys on the sideline.

Lions10 rushs for 2 yards

Suggs just had an 8 yard run, had a 9 yarder earlier. Seems to be looking OK. Jets ought to think about trading for this guy. Oh wait, he's a physical failure according to the Jets. :loco:

how is Jerome Harrison looking? How did Frye look? Lastly, how did KW2 look?Thank you.
I can see the stats on Harrison and they look good, but how does he look? Does he look as though he can avoid being pigeon-holed as a 3rd down back?

Harrison looked real good tonight. He 's got a real quick bust and gets to full speed very fast. Dropped a pass from frye early in the game but had several nice runs and a TD.Frye look pretty good. He looks like he has good instincts avioding the rush and can buy time on his feet. Detriot D hit him from the back side forceing a fumble (he was starting forward motion on the pass) but there was really nothing he could do. He had one pick trying to force a ball to northcut but it looked like the ball slipped a bit on him. If that pass was on the money Northcut scores.Winslow had a nice grab to convert a 3rd down and a couple other catches but nothing realy spectacular.

Detriot scored on a short field off a Frye fumble. Jone looked good on the screans but wasn't getting much room to run. Browns D was lookin real good against the lions 1st team.Martz was calling screans all night and was mixing up the plays well. I can see K Jones getting alot of passes out of the backfield this year.R William had a few nice catches also. That dude is cut for a WR.

who is higher on the depth chart...Orlovsky or McCown?
Orlovsky. Both were shaky tonight but McCown sucked more tonight than did Orvlovsky. I can't see that he did anything to overtake Orlovsky tonight. If you check the game stats, it would appear McCown had the better night but don't be fooled by the stat line.

I don't see his name mentioned much at all here, but Arlen Harris is the man to take by KJ owners or a late round flyer. he knows Martz obviously, and he's looked really good in both of the Lions games.

Roy is going to have a huge year.

I think McCown played his way back to 2nd with that last drive, despite a few brainfarts. Some good scrambles especially.

Ernie Sims is the Real deal. that kid can fly and he can hit.

I really like this Bodiford kid. i'm rooting for him to make the team and take over return duties.

How long has McCown been the #3 QB? I had no idea he had fallen that far out of favor.

Big things I saw...

KJ had very little running room. He also didn't appear to hit the hole very hard, looking tentative and always trying to bounce it outside. It was nice to see the TD reception as a designed play for him, though.

Roy Williams looks like he's about to put it all together. Made a tough catch with d all over him, and held on despite a big shot on the tackle.

McCown seems almost unwilling to pass first -- always looking to scramble, and held onto the ball WAY too long.

For the Browns, Winslow appeared to be moving freely and easily. Had a nice sliding first down catch in the 1st half.

Harrison looked very good, didn't make any mistakes, always fought for extra yards. I don't know about him as an every-down back because it's really the first I've seen of him, but he did the job tonight.

Frye's interception was one of the most horrid passes I've ever seen. It appeared he put every muscle in his body into the throw, and it went all of 15 mph -- total duck. He didn't throw too many other horrid passes, but then again he didn't throw many good ones either.

A few questions since I missed the game.

1. Who's this Arlen Harris guy and is he worth anything in a dynasty league?

2. How did BMW LOOK outside of his stat line?

3. How did the CLE SS battle between Jones and Pool go?

4. Think Harrison eventually moves up to 2 for CLE?

5. Daniel Bullocks for Dynasty IDP, yay or nay?

1. Not sure2. He looked good, running nice routes and real nice hands. As mentioned earlier he made a nice grab in trafic and took a pretty good hit and still hung onto the ball. Looks very strong.3. Both Pool and Jones were on the field with the first team. I didn't realy see anything spectacular from either last night. Romeo said before the game that Jones was a little further ahead than Pool.4. It's possible but he's a bit small. He'll be the 3rd down/change of pace but if Droughns gets hurt I think Green would be the guy.5. Don't know.

Did Joe J suit up for the game? I did not read about him as even a target for any passes, but saw Northcutt was thrown to pretty frequently.

I just got done watching the second half, here are some initial thoughts:

a) Cleveland run blocking looked pretty good

b) Roy looked pretty good on a deep pass where he beat double coverage

c) KJ is frusterating to watch because you can tell he has the talent, but still seems to lack instincts/vision at times. He caught a nifty swing pass for a TD which is encouraging because I think that's the way to use KJ...get him in space.

d) Nortchutt is so underrated. All the kid does is produce when given a chance. Given how unlikely it is that both Edwards and JJ stay healthy this year I think he could be decent value in pprs. Frye was locking onto him.

e) Kitna looks very comfortable.

f) Detroit run blocking sucked but the pass protection was excellent. I'd be surprised if this was a balanced offense based on what I've seen from the Lions blocking this preseason. I project more passing yardage and less rushing yardage than most.

can anyone give me any info on brian calhoun? I assume he's hurt since his name hasn't come up in either of the Lion's games

It's hard not to take this with a grain of salt given your handle.
I understand :) But, I can also be very unbiased. Here is what I see of the Browns this year:1. A strong defense with little to no depth outside of LB and 1 CB. If they can stay healthy, they can be a top defense. May get worn down if on the field to long.2. The offense has a long way to go and Frye so far looks very raw. 3. The OLine has problems that need fixed in pass protection before the season starts or Ken Dorsey will be in quick (or Vinny T?)4. Droughns should be fine, I see another 1,000 yards with more TDs.5. The receiving offense outside of possibly Winslow will not be very effective. 6. All in all, I see most Browns games as low scoring defensive battles.
