With Duckett moving up from the RB list to #2 what can we expect K. Jone's numbers to go down?

Will Tatum Bell find his way back?

Duckett Has been a goal line back before, can we expect him to start that again?

Opinions appreciated..

No..no and no.

 K.Jones is not a W.Dunn/R.Bush/B.Westbrook type back.... he doesn't need a goal line replacement. I expect Duckett to come in periodically to give Jones a quick breather.Bell might as well suit up as a cheerleader...that's as much action as I see him getting.

KJ will be the main guy. Sure, the other backs will se some reps, but not enough to matter. I also wouldn't be too concerned about Detroit pulling Jones at the goal line in favor of Duckett. Not to say that Duckett won't get some goal line work, because it may happen when the Lions are using him for a particular series anyway.

KJ will play until he feels he needs a break. Duckett will get 5-8 carries a game depending on how the game is going.KJ is 6-0 228, so he is not a small RB.

You can expect KJ to be the main/only ball carrier and the others to be nearly worthless (not that they were worth much when they were starting and KJ was out).

I have no inside knowledge so this is just personal opinion. Seems like Duckett always gets viewed as a short yardage/goal line RB and I would not be surprised to see him fill that role and get a few series besides that during a game. Kevin Jones should still be the main guy and get 15-20 carries per game with Duckett probably getting around 5. I think Bell will see very little action unless Detroit has another RB injury.

There are rumblings around here that Bell will be inactive this week. The Lions picked up Cason, and he may be the 3rd RB, because of his special teams abilities. I don't recall Bell getting a snap last week.

For those who didn't see the Lions play last week, Kevin Jones looked great, as if he had never been injured. The entire offense is much better and well rounded when he plays.

Anthony, as a KJ dynasty owner I have really, really appreciated all of your updates and insights throughout the offseason and now the season. You always seem to be well informed. My take on the question: KJ is a complete back and will be relieved only for a breather. I do think Duckett may be worth owning, however, in case KJ gets injured again. If that happens Bell becomes the change of pace for Duckett, but I think Duckett will get a chance to carry the load should KJ go down. I think Bell is only worth owning in dynasty now and only deep dynasty in the expectation that he will be with another team next year; but, even then, I wonder if anyone else will give him a chance to start.

Don't be silly, the cheerleaders will get far more action than Tatum Bell.

Where do you guys see Tatum going next year? Where are you guys valuing him? Potential for a decent career, or more like a Michael Bennett career?

Bennett is decent comparison. I think he's got talent, but obviously he's got holes in his game. There's no way it can be the coaches fault everywhere he goes.Edited to add; he probably has holes in his attitude as well.

The Lions don't have Cheerleaders....Duckett looked good in the few situations he ran in last week. KJ will carry the entire load, except for when he is winded, until he gets hurt again....and it is going to happen if they continue to rely on him as much as last week. I don't understand all the KJ love, DETROIT IS A PASSING TEAM, folks. I you are betting that Martz is going to turn into a grinder you might as well flush your cash down the ####ter.

I don't think you'll hear anyone complaining if Kevin Jones' role on a passing team resembles that of Brian Westbrook or Marshall Faulk or what Joseph Addai was supposed to be before RBBC emerged there.Actually a RB that averages 15 carries and 7 receptions is more valuable than one that averages 20 carries and 2 receptions.

I'd love this to be true, but let's not forget that KJ sustained his recent injury on a goal line carry (against my Vikings if memory serves me correct). I'd expect that to be on Martz' mind when he's trying to decide who gets to punch it through the pile. KJ has had an injury concern in the past, so I do think the Lions will modify how he's used without declining his touches too much, and short-yardage situations are likely to get looked at.

I believe all of KJs TDs this year have been from the 1 or 2 yard line.

Since Jones came back in week 3, he has gotten 3 carries inside the 5 and Bell 2. In the last 3 weeks, no one but Jones has toted the rock inside the 5.

If they weren't bringing Duckett in at the goal line already, why would they start doing so now?

So the cheerleaders will get as much action as Tatum Bell then. :confused:Maybe if the Lions had cheerleaders, they could motivate Tatum Bell.
Thanks for taking care of that for me.

Duckett has only been active in week 1 and week 7. Tough to say if Duckett will get goal line carries or not...but one thing is for sure, and that is KJ has been prone to injury.

The notion that short yardage/goal line situations pose a more significantly higher injury risk to a RB is extremely suspect. I've seen no compelling reason to ascribe to this theory.

I agree. KJ is the man. The offense really moved the ball with him in there. They sustained drives, and therefore KJ needed some breathers. TJ filled in nicely when needed. He ran hard and moved the ball. It took 3 and 4 guys to bring him down on those smashes up the middle. He is a much better #2 than Bell, who seems to go down on the first contact far too often. I liked what I saw with him in the game.
