Deuce McAllister in Dynasty (1 Viewer)

In terms of Dynasty leagues, I'm struggling with how you value this guy.

FBGs rankings vary from 28-50 overall in dynasty.

1) Reggie Bush. If you believe Bush will help the offense, Deuce will be the one cashing in on the TDs. Deuce is a very good goal line runner, and while Bush might cut down on his carries (which might be a good thing) it probably also increases his TDs.

2) Brees/New HC. Again NO was a pretty bad team. Some solid QB play, better offensive system that favors RBs, most of this boost should go to Deuce.

3) ACL. Usually RBs struggle after an ACL. But Bush/Bennett/Brees/better offense should ease his burden, and as stated, he'll get the majority of the rushing TDs.

He's currently projected at RB30. NO would have to BOMB for him to get 6 tds. Bush/Brees/HC would all have to pretty much tank. I don't see NO being in bottom 1/4 offensively.

Back to dynasty. If Bush gets a huge deal, can they really keep Deuce next year? His contract is fairly cap friendly, but it’s nothing to sneeze at. The Saints just have a ton of holes.

Lets say Deuce has a healthy year, joins a new team in 07. Wouldn't he be a lock for top 15? He'd be 28. When healthy, the guy produces, no questions. He seems like a guy who if he stays healthy in 2006, his value will explode if he joins a new team. Look at Taylor, totally unproven. Deuce is still pretty young.

And if they keep him in 2007, that probably means Bush struggled, and Deuce had a solid year. Again I don't see his value dropping because of that. If Bush gets better, Deuce gets more TDs. Then we have 2008/2009, where he's 29/30. Still should be very productive. This guy is a huge talent. Proven track record. Still very young.

In FBG dynasty RB rakings, you have 3 rookie RBs, KJ, JJ, DD, McGahee, Droughns, Jones, Taylor all ranked higher? Bunch of them have as much injury concerns, and 1/2 of them are 100% unproven. Seriously Droughns over Deuce in dynasty? Droughns might not even have a starting job in the NFL next year.

A lot of thing hinges on Deuce staying with NO. I'd like some feedback on that. But also the point that if he does walk, he's a top 15 pick in 2007 without question (assuming he stays healthy). And at 27, people have totally slept on this guy. Jamal Lewis stinks it up for TWO YEARS, and people still taking him in the top 20. Edge blew out a knee and has put up some monster numbers since. So the ACL isn’t a huge concern for me.

I just see a huge overreaction to Bush. If Bush is the next LT, Deuce is a free man. If Bush stinks, Deuce will be a top 15RB. It's no lose for Deuce. If Bush helps them move the ball up and down the field, Deuce will get 10-12 TDs in his sleep.

I must be missing something, because I don't see how this guy is RB24 in dynasty. Projecting ahead 3 years, Deuce if healthy, will be a top 15RB. And I don’t believe he has any more health concerns then 1/2 the RBs ranked ahead of him.

there is risk involved with deuce mcallister, but i also like him as a buy low candidate right now

many owners were surprised when the saints drafted deuce mcallister when they already had ricky williams on the roster. deuce is just on the other side of that equation now. if bush shows 1/2 of what many expect this season mcallister will be playing for another team at this time next year and his value will shoot up considerably

the reduced workload this season may push his long-term dynasty value up in my eyes...the key is do you believe that mcallister will be in another uniform next year? if you do i'd go get the guy now while the cost isn't outrageous

I agree deuce is a good buy low guy because of his upside but you're seriouly underestimating the durability concerns. In the four years he's been a starter deuce has made it through an entire season only once and on top of that he had problems staying healthy in college.

oh hell yes. Bush is probably going to end up being the 3rd down back + WR3.... I fail to see how him catching passes deteriorates Deuce's value.

Bush might hit 5 or 600 yards this year.

Deuce should hit 13-1500 though

I agree he is a good buy low candidate. WHile there are questions re: his ACL and Bush, if you can wait on him you're good to go.

I just picked him up at 7.08 in a 10 team, first year dynasty draft. After I got Portis in the first and Westbrook in the 3rd. (and Chad Johnson in the 2nd).

In terms of risk, I can let it ride, so to speak, without too much concern. I think he may find himself on another team next year, BUT remember - the market is not kind to RBs of late and he would cost something to pick up for another team - and that could be prohibitive.

But I like the risk ok - esp at 7.08. :)

I think he meant that Deuce would get somewhere between 13 and 1500 yards. He is probably right!

while i agree bush has skill set of a WR & can be on the field at same time as mccalister, i think bush is too talented to not be a threat to his carries & touches... once he gets his foot in the door, he has the once-a-generation abilty to break the door down...

i take it contract & cap ramifications would not make it easy to move deuce at the moment... but i think the best hope for deuce as buy low candidate is is he ends up with another team in a few seasons... but by that time he would be approaching 30... at which point he might be able to play at relatively high level for few additional seasons (corey dillon & fred taylor may be able to play at high level for a while longer) but could then be on downside of his career by the time he gets out from the shadow of bush...

I'd grab Deuce in a dynasty league if you anticipate being able to hold onto him for the 2007 season. There is no way the Saints can afford to pay both of them and they won't be trading Bush.

one other item worth noting...since deuce will be coming back slowly from his ACL injury he might be an even better buy low RB if his owner gets a bit impatient early in the year

I agree with Funky 100%. I like the guy a lot but there's NO WAY Deuce is getting to 1500 yards!!
