Just took Duvernay in FFPC at 6.09
Cheaper next year? He’s a 3rd round pick ffs. You don’t leave it up for chance at that price point.I like Duvernay quite a bit but I agree with some of what @barackdhouse is saying. I actually think he'll be quite a bit cheaper later this year or next offseason. These guys that aren't big hype names are guys that fantasy owners really get bored of quickly if they don't break out right away a la Terry McClaurin.
Granted he's not that expensive right now, but I bet he'll be available almost for free at some point. Like Barack I should probably stipulate that many of my leagues are FFPC so smaller rosters, but I would compare him a lot to Miles Boykin. He wasn't particularly expensive last year as a mid 3rd round pick, but this year he's just sitting out there as a FA and went through the entire 7th round rookie/FA draft despite everyone knowing he probably wasn't going to be a huge contributor as a rookie.
Maybe I'm getting a little off topic here but if I have space for them I really like grabbing project WRs or young TEs at a discount headed into year 2 or 3 of their career who haven't flashed yet. As much as people draft them knowing they are a project and say they are willing to wait, the reality is most fantasy owners give up pretty quickly unless they see major flashes of stardom.
You look at a guy like Mike Gesicki who was considered a project at a position that takes a while to develop anyway and who has followed basically the exact path people were hoping for when they drafted him, yet his value right now is still less than it was when he was in the rookie draft despite the fact that we are now fast forwarded to the part where we get to see if he actually is about to break out instead of having to wait 2 years like you did back then.
Huh? Yeah you get him for free on the WW.Cheaper next year? He’s a 3rd round pick ffs. You don’t leave it up for chance at that price point.
Yeah, cause he’s guaranteed to land there and there won’t be others bidding.Huh? Yeah you get him for free on the WW.
i got dionte johnson at 41 last year. It's a risk vs. opportunity cost question. My old boss used to call it "missing dollars to pick up pennies". Sure, he might get cheaper, but how much cheaper is cheaper? You're saving a 3rd rounder? Big freaking deal. If the payout is McLaurin? Yeah I take that every chance I get.
If he shows any glimmer at all you're not getting him off waivers, or any semblance of cheap, after he does. Even before that the guy that does draft him is going to be a believer just like we are, so why would a guy that snagged him and was thrilled about it suddenly sell him cheap? Those are going to be few and far between. Look at Preston Williams. People are talking first rounder or they will hold him. All this guy did was get a thread about him in FBG (although it was a great thread) and he got hot and then a couple flashes before tearing an ACL and he's still borderline untouchable.
And if he is so bad and shows zero glimmers that someone drops him are you really going to be using your taxi spots and FAAB on a guy like that or will you be happy you dodged that one and go a different direction? Lots of guys were saying similar things about Gary Jennings at this time last year, how many would spend FAAB and/or a limited roster spot to pick him up now?
3rd/4th rounders are unlikely to hit anyway, may as well take a guy with a ceiling like this.
Ravens third-round WR Devin Duvernay could “get opportunities” in the slot.
The Ravens are letting Duvernay compete with Willie Snead and sixth-rounder James Proche for the No. 3 role. A SPARQ standout, Duvernay has flashed with big plays at camp. The Ravens should find a way to get Duvernay’s 4.3 speed on the field, but he’ll likely start out behind Snead.

“Jackson’s best throw of the day was a perfectly placed deep ball down the far sideline to rookie Devin Duvernay, who beat Peters to make the catch. Duvernay has made several plays with Peters in coverage during training camp.”

WR Devin Duvernay: "[He] has gotten open downfield as much as any wideout this summer. In one-on-one drills, he’s shown a savvy ability to separate from defensive backs, flying past cornerback Marcus Peters for long gains on several occasions."

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said WR Devin Duvernay's role is "being determined as we speak."
"Doesn't say a lot but he works a lot," Harbaugh said.
It'll be interesting to see how the rookie third-round pick fits into the mix behind Hollywood Brown, Miles Boykin and Willie Snead
Devin Duvernay caught two of three targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' Week 3 win against the Lions.
Unlike teammate Marquise Brown -- who dropped three touchdowns against Detroit -- Duvernay held on to his wide-open score in the first half. The Ravens' kick returner has seen decent run at wideout with the team struggling with receiver injuries early in the season. Duvernay is only fantasy relevant in leagues that count return yardage.
Devin Duvernay caught three of six targets for 31 yards in the Ravens' Week 4 win against the Broncos.
After catching a touchdown from Lamar Jackson in Week 4, Duvernay again had a decent role in Baltimore's passing attack. Only Sammy Watkins and Mark Andrews commanded more targets than Duvernay, a speedy kick returner. He's not a reliable fantasy option but he could be intriguing if the Ravens struggle with wideout injuries at some point this season.
I’ve been screaming myself hoarse for two years about getting him more involved in their regular offense. They’ve thus far used him mainly on stuff like jet sweeps. Baltimore will probably sign a vet, but I expect Duvernay gets his chances to shine this year.Unless the Ravens sign one of the veterans still out there, it looks like Duvernay may be in line for an expanded role. Something to watch in camp.
Devin Duvernay caught 4-of-4 targets for 54 yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens' Week 1 win against the Jets.
It was a decidedly efficient day for Duvernay, a hyper productive college wideout who could assert himself as Baltimore's No. 2 receiver. He caught two of Lamar Jackson's three touchdowns against the Jets. A speedy boundary receiver, Duvernay will be a volatile fantasy producer even if he does get a full complement of routes in the run-first Ravens offense.

Devin Duvernay (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday.
Duvernay returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown last week against the Dolphins and caught both of his targets for 42 yards before leaving in the fourth quarter with a concussion. Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman are the Ravens' only fantasy-viable pass-catchers.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said WR Devin Duvernay (concussion) has cleared protocol and will play in Week 3 against the Patriots.
Duvernay has been a big-play magnet so far this year, and could be a decent FLEX option for fantasy managers. It's hard to trust him more than that given how concentrated the targets in the Baltimore passing game seem to be -- but it is worth noting that the Patriots have traditionally done a very good job of holding Mark Andrews down when they've played the Ravens recently.

So far this guy has:
1. Scored 4 TDs in 3 games.
2. Was clocked as the fastest player on any play this season.
3. Has caught 100% of his targets.
4. The WR2 for an MVP candidate at QB
What’s not to love? So far he’s everything people hoped Gabe Davis would be.

No one talking about this guy? Consistently performing in PPR. Looks like an escape valve for Lamar on 3rd downs. Currently ranked 27th of all WRs and his main competition at the position, Rashod Bateman, is likely out with a foot injury for a couple weeks at best (or longer).
Dude is outperforming the "WR1" on his own team and now looks in line to get quite a few more targets weekly.
Passes the eye test. Looks like a burner on the field.
Possible league winner. Get him now.
Devin Duvernay caught 5-of-7 targets for 54 yards in Baltimore's Week 5 win over the Bengals, adding three rushes for 24 yards.
Used as an extension of the running game early on, Duvernay was effective on the edge, even gaining 11 yards on a mis-timed snap that hit him in the arm. He was also wide open for a deep touchdown between two defenders on the opening drive of the third quarter, but Lamar Jackson's throw was a step too far for the speedster. While the final line isn't especially dominant, the Deebo-esque usage as Baltimore's No. 2 without Rashod Bateman definitely gets him to the WR3 line for Week 6 if Bateman misses another game. He'll face off against the Giants.

Devin Duvernay caught 4-of-4 targets for 31 yards in the Ravens' Week 8 win over the Bucs, adding two rushes for 33 additional yards and a touchdown.
The closest thing Baltimore had to a No. 1 receiver after Rashod Bateman tweaked his foot injury near halftime, Duvernay's 64 yards from scrimmage were his second most of the season. The touchdown was his first since Week 3. Duvernay came shot out of a cannon on a fourth quarter jet sweep and made a 15-yard house call. Duvernay has become an extremely important real-life player for the short-handed Ravens, but it continues to have trouble translating to WR4 value in fantasy.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Devin Duvernay's recovery from a foot injury will be about two months.
Duvernay suffered the injury in practice on Tuesday and is out for the rest of the season. It's another blow to one of the weakest wideout rooms in the NFL, and leave Demarcus Robinson and Mark Andrews as the only viable pass catchers in the Baltimore offense. Newly-signed Sammy Watkins could instantly find plenty of snaps and pass routes in the Ravens offense.
