Dez Bryant Panic (1 Viewer)

He didn't get any looks and it was just all Austin and Witten and Murray getting all the work in a big healthy day for the Cowboys offense.

He looked pissed on the sidelines and now I hear this talk of a foot injury.

Is this a time bomb? I spent so much to get Dez. Is everything going to be alright? I was semi distracted for the night game so I couldn't see closely if they were rolling double teams over his way all night or what exactly was going on to shut him down so much.

The panic comes from the thought he might have a Lisfranc injury if he does season over for him and many of my teams.

Dez Bryant is undergoing an MRI on his sprained left foot.
Oh boy. Bryant's X-rays were "negative," but likely in the "inconclusive" sense. Bryant's proclamation that he plans to play this week won't mean anything until the Cowboys get back his MRI, which could reveal a mid-foot, or possibly even Lisfranc, issue his X-rays missed. There's still reason for optimism, but Bryant won't be out of the woods until/if he gets a clean MRI.

Yes.

I don't believe it occurred until later in the game, however.

No, everything under "Dez Bryant is undergoing an MRI on his sprained left foot" is the bizarro Rotoworld conjecture we've all come to love.

His usage was discussed a lot last year early. Romo just won't force him the ball and let him make plays. If a D wants to take him out of the equation it's not that hard to do it because of this. It's funny bc Romo has no problem throwing across the field off his back foot but won't just let Dez go get it like he can. Most nights like last night they lose since you can't count on all the help the Giants gave them.

ya, the MRI is likely to check out his colon.
I can say "Dez Bryant might have broken every single ligament and tiny bone in his foot and just can't feel it yet," too. The only difference is that I don't have my own website full of horrible fantasy "analysis." He very well might have a significant injury, but the last place I'm trusting to speculate on it is Rotoworld.

Yeah, last play when the trainers were looking at him and then he was tossing drink cups around.

He actually came back in after that on a two point conversion and they threw it to him. It's just as likely his sprain is about as sprained as jamaal Charles was. We won't know until they rule it out but all the reports close to home are saying he is more upset about not destroying the giants than he is his foot.

Someone asked above about coverage. He was played close to the line with help over the top all night and they finally moved him to the slot some and he made a few small catches there but even then the giants were doubling him on either side.

It's frustrating for sure but he is a talent in the range of the top talents in the league. Calvin didnt ball out yesterday. Neither did half the RBs. It's just a bad week.

Plus, romo did start force feeding dez the ball last year in the second half of the season. Which is when he really broke out. Assuming his foot injury is nothing serious, be patient he will be the 2nd or 3rd best wr this year. Dudes a beast.

Please drop him then come join our league, you'll have fun, I promise!

He was pissed because of the injury.

He had underneath and over the top coverage all night, the Giants weren't going to let him beat them plain and simple. I wish I could field a team with all the top players who didn't perform in week #1, geez...

Dont most teams do this to top receivers like Fitz/Green yet studs still produce something?

The Bears put Tillman on Green and how did Green do? They did not double Green all game, yes teams will bracket the stud, sometimes the stud wins, other times the QB throws elsewhere. My point is why panic after one week?

I only wish Austin or Williams would've made some big plays due to NYG paying less attention. Maybe that would at least give some hope teams might decide soemone else on Dallas could hurt them. However, Romo dinked & dunked all game. Sure, Austin/Witten got targets, but Romo's YPA was crap. It was like watching Alex Smith.

G'dammit!

I tried dropping Dez just now after hearing the news as I have him on a couple teams.

Yahoo says I can't drop him !!/!!//

I'm f'cked! Season over.

Update:

MRI shows “mild” foot sprain for Dez BryantPosted by Josh Alper on September 10, 2013, 9:17 AM EDT
ReutersCowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was diagnosedwith a foot sprain after Sunday’s victory over the Giants, but said Monday that he felt certain he would be on the field for the team’s Week Two date with the Chiefs.

That confidence wasn’t enough to keep him from getting an MRI on his left foot to see if there was any structural damage that might get in the way of Bryan’t prediction coming true.

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, the MRI showed nothing of the sort. Werder reports that the test showed Bryant suffered a “mild” sprain of his foot and that the Cowboys fully expect him to be on the field against the Chiefs, although he may be a limited participant in practice during the week because of the injury.

It’s probably a good bet that Bryant will be on the field. He’s played through injuries in the past without seeing much of a drop in effectiveness and he returned to the field on Sunday night after initially suffering the foot injury, so there’s every reason to believe he’ll be on the field for a date with a defense that didn’t allow a point in Week One.

As always, anything in blue text on Rotoworld is useless, usually unfounded speculation. Glad to hear it's nothing.

Your season is definitely not over but your days as a fantasy football manager/owner/coach surely are.

Everyone seems to be enjoying this one and playing it off like there is no news here when there is. He has a mild foot strain. That can linger and get worse easily. That is news. It's a reason to be worried.

It's week two. We shouldn't be actively pursuing ulcers at this point in the year unless it's warranted.

Agree. I understand the concern, as he most likely represented your #1 WR choice, but I have to think if it was anything remotely like a Lisfranc injury he would be either on crutches or at a minimum in a walking boot. Neither is the case.

I'm not worried in the least. If the words "Lisfranc" or "High Ankle" are in there, then I'm worried. The "mild" variety seems to me that a little tape and a pain pill will take care of it.

He was walking around the locker room today without a limp. Per a twitter report of a beat writer
That is certainly better than beating around the locker room without a limp.

Non-injury related panic:

I thought Dallas' defense would struggle in their first year of playing a 3-4 but they have looked great, thus minimizing the chance of having to rally from far behind in games. This was when Dez got a ton of work during his magical ending to last season. I know, he is a major part of their offense, but factor in the defense, a healthy Miles Austin, Bill Callahan as OC and his early foot and back problems and do you look to sell him high in these early weeks?

So every time a stud has an average game we have to have a panic thread??

WR production is always inconsistent. Dez is fine...more than fine.
