Ya, hard not to anticipate more than 0 catches. With that said, the Saints are the toughest teams for WR's to actually score against. If not for a 60 yard TD run for Austin, his day wouldn't have been successful. As far as receiving goes, it wasn't successful.I wouldn't read too much into this day. I would expect Dez NOT to post great numbers next week either against the Colts but after that, the Cowboys have a couple of nice juicy matchups where you should start both Miles and Dez.Well that was somewhat less than I was anticipating.
I don't think anyone is arguing he's not the most physically gifted. But he's also not the most effective at reading defenses yet and being where the QB expects him to be. There were several miscommunications yesterday with Kitna. Thats why Austin is still the #1, not that he's been getting many looks either though. I did find it interesting that NO was doubling Dez though.i just dont understand why hes not out there more than any other dallas wr... its pretty obvious to everyone that hes the most talented/effective player on their team, yet i get the feeling cowboys coaching is going with the right of passage b/s
That is very true. He just wasn't on the same page as Kitna and he let his frustration definately get the better of him. I swear it was like this guy needed a babysitter on the field yesterday. Come on man, we know you want the ball but you're a grown man, at least you're on the field with some grown men. I hated seeing him need to be told over and over that "it's OK" or "your turn will come" or whatever things they were saying to appease him. What happened right after one of his tantrums? They threw it to him on a key third down when they probably shouldn't and it was incomplete, not even close. That didn't help anyone.I don't think anyone is arguing he's not the most physically gifted. But he's also not the most effective at reading defenses yet and being where the QB expects him to be. I was aware of the Saints defensive numbers. I was also aware that they were pretty banged up in their secondary, and that they were traveling on a very short week. I figured players slowed by injury on a minimal prep time week would not be able to shut out Dez Bryant with him being at home. I guess figuring isn't my strong suit.Ya, hard not to anticipate more than 0 catches. With that said, the Saints are the toughest teams for WR's to actually score against. Don't beat yourself up, I don't think you'll find anyone that had Dez Bryant shut out completely.I was aware of the Saints defensive numbers. The Cowboys played a lot of two-tight end sets (Witten/Bennett) and two-HB sets (Gronkowski and Jones or Barber) that only allowed for starters Williams and Austin at WR. Bryant was in on the three and four wide sets (although Hurd was inserted in favor of Bryant on a number of three-wide looks). He was targeted on the same two plays twice each: a bubble screen that the NO DL broke up both times, and a quick out that Kitna was inaccurate on both times. Bryant's use in the game was baffling---it was like Dallas game planned for more big formations and to specifically not use him. Kitna didn't help.Maybe its just something I dont notice as much when watching on TV but I was at the game yesterday and was shocked at how few snaps Dez actually saw the field. Im a Cowboys fan and like I said maybe somehow I dont see it on TV but I dont remember him being on the field this little in a while. Anyone else see that?
Perhaps slightly less then normal-but really only sees the field in 3WR sets or when Roy/Miles need a blow.Maybe its just something I dont notice as much when watching on TV but I was at the game yesterday and was shocked at how few snaps Dez actually saw the field. These are my thoughts. I saw T.O. out there and if it becomes a trend it's going to affect the team in a bad way. If I recall wasn't Dallas leading when DEZ had his tantrum?he had 6 targets. i know fantasy owners want every target to go to him but his involvement was fine today. hes a rookie that missed a ton of practice time and was injured for most of the year. of course hes not gonna supplant proven vets like austin and roy who certainly have a better understanding of the offense.the team did all it could to appease him with involvement. after most of his temper tantrums they forced the ball his way but he either wasnt open or kitna made a bad throw. dez was detrimental to the team and i am concerned about his role going forward. very well could be repercussions in his relationship with kitna and the offense.
Don't feel too badly - I started him at flex over BJGE (2 Tds yesterday) and Forte.hey me either man like I said I benched tolbert, bradshaw, goodson,k.williams for dezK8! said:I was aware of the Saints defensive numbers.
