How great would it have been if after Belichek runs off the field, the Giants fake the kneel down and toss another TD? Then, when asked in the post game press conference, Tom Coghlin could have said "What are we supposed to do? Kneel down? It's up to the defense to stop us and if they can't do it, I'm sorry"

I too was thinking how fitting it would be for the Giants to "run up the score" in the superbowl against a team that may or maynot have been doing it all season long. HOWEVER, Coughlin wouldhave looked like the world's biggest ######## had they tried to do that, and fumbled/had been intercepted for a returned TD by the Patriots. Giants would have lost the game at that point, a game that would have been all but won. Taking the "sure win" was the only option...but I wouldn't be suprised if Coughlin might have been thinking just the same thing...for a split second. :whoosh:

No - in order to do this, Coughlin and the Giants would have had to stoop to Patriot levels of insecurity and pettiness. At least one team on the field last night had class (HINT: It wasn't the one who's coach left the sideline before the game had officially ended.)

I agree with your sentiment, but if you're not a fan of the Pats, you can't tell me that this wouldn't have made you smile -- just a little.

Didn't Chuck Daly's Pistons do this once? Can't remember if it was the Eastern Conference Finals or the NBA Finals.

It would have been even funnier if Asante had picked it and taken it to the house....

we were talking about this same thing at the end of the game. It would have made us laugh but we are glad they didnt.

I agree with this

I got a lot of satisfaction out of seeing BB head for the mid-field handshake before leaving only to have to put it in reverse and go back to the sideline. "Sorry coach, you have to stand out here for one more second."

I thought they should have kicked a field goal. But there is also the chance it gets blocked and the Patriots return it. The kneel down was the safest play. Going for a score would've been fun to watch though.

and maybe even Mercury Morris could have suited up and been the guy to catch the pass. :thumbup:way too risky :hifive:

This is exactly what I was thinking. The Pats would have deserved that! The look on their faces would have been so sweet!Goes to show the Giants were the classier team.
