Smith's only catch came from Carr. For what it's worth.I am officially concerned with the Carolina situation. Delhomme did not look good and then got hurt. I dont want to be relying on Carr to get the ball to Smith.
Delhomme was pressured a lot by Atlanta's D before he got hurt, and Carolina ran the ball a lot. I didn't think he looked bad today. He had 109 yards and 2 TD's, before getting injured.I am officially concerned with the Carolina situation. Delhomme did not look good and then got hurt. I dont want to be relying on Carr to get the ball to Smith.
Smith dropped two passes from Delhomme prior, and would have caught a long one from Delhomme, but Hall grabbed him so he wouldn't make the catch causing pass interference.Smith's only catch came from Carr. For what it's worth.I am officially concerned with the Carolina situation. Delhomme did not look good and then got hurt. I dont want to be relying on Carr to get the ball to Smith.
True. The jawing between he and D'Angelo Hall was first rate though.True. It was a David Carr special. Pass behind the line that Smith ran for 10 yards.Smith's only catch came from Carr. For what it's worth.I am officially concerned with the Carolina situation. Delhomme did not look good and then got hurt. I dont want to be relying on Carr to get the ball to Smith.
I'm a big Steve Smith fan but when you're playing like s**t you really need to shut the hell up. He was Hall's b***h today. He should've kept his trap shut and played better. The jawing between he and D'Angelo Hall was first rate though.True. Here is a little bit of info on it:joepro said:So what was Delhomme's injury?
Delhomme will be X-rayed and evaluated upon his return to Charlotte. He had his right elbow wrapped in ice after the game."Hopefully I'll be back out there Wednesday [for practice]," Delhomme said. "But you just don't know. We'll be in good hands if David Carr has to step in, no doubt."Delhomme said the injury came on a quarterback sack by Atlanta's John Abraham in the third quarter when Delhomme tried to hold onto the ball as Abraham tried to rip it out. The Panthers ultimately scored on that drive, with Delhomme throwing a five-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jeff King, but Delhomme took himself out of the game during the next series when his elbow kept hurting every time he threw.Delhomme said that after a short pass to Brad Hoover caused intense pain that he decided he should stop "trying to be Mr. Macho" and come out of the game. Quarterback David Carr replaced Delhomme and finished off the Panther victory.

Inconsistency for a player of Smith's talent is 3 catches for 30 yards. One catch for 10 yards is pathetic. One of the joys of stud WRs in FF is inconsistency.Varmint said:He was targeted ten (10) times and had one (1) catch.![]()

As both a Delhomme and SSmith owner, this part freaks me out. Here is a little bit of info on it:joepro said:So what was Delhomme's injury?Delhomme will be X-rayed and evaluated upon his return to Charlotte. He had his right elbow wrapped in ice after the game.

I believe he was only out for one series. While on the sidelines a trainer gave him what I thought was advil or possibly a quick energy pack. Other than that I never saw the trainers looking at him at all. Pure speculation on my part but a headache or fatigue was my thought. It didn't appear to be anything that will effect him next week. This is from the NFL.com game summary:"Carolina receiver Steve Smith was in and out of the lineup with an undisclosed injury and he definitely seemed affected by it, catching only one pass for 10 yards."Anyone hear anything about this???

Let me guess:You got single handedly smoked by Steve Smith last week, didn't you. Either that, or you lost a game with him in your line-up. I'm anything but a hater. As I posted earlier I'm a huge Steve Smith fan. Do you honestly think he played well today? He dropped two passes and had only one catch against one of the more over-rated CBs in the league. Bad games happen to the best of players. This was about as bad as I've seen Smith look in a long time.Let me guess:You got single handedly smoked by Steve Smith last week, didn't you. Smith was not pathetic today. He certainly didn't turn in a typical Steve Smith performance, dropping at least two passes, but he did get inside DeAngelo Hall's head, which cost the Falcons the game. Smith beat Hall deep for what would have been a 37 yard catch plus RAC, but instead got dragged down by Hall. Smith got the call, and while it doesn't show up on his stats, it moved the Panthers down the field. A few plays later, Smith and Hall were obviously trash talking each other when a ref got in between them. Hall lost his cool and drew a unsportsman like conduct for 15 yards, which extended the drive and gave the Panthers a critical TD instead of a FG. Huge difference in the outcome of that game. Did Smith have a bad fantasy game? Certainly. Did he help his team win today? No question IMO.I stand by my original statement. Smith was pathetic today. HALL BEAT UP IN FALCONS LOCKER ROOM?
There are uncorroborated rumors making the rounds that Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall was beat up, presumably by one or more teammates, following a Falcons loss that was fueled in part by Hall's inability to control his emotions.
After being flagged for a total of 37 yards on a second-half drive that the Panthers used to tie the game, Hall got into a sideline confrontation with coach Bobby Petrino.
We don't know for sure whether Hall was indeed roughed up or otherwise accosted by teammates after the game, but it wouldn't surprise us to find out that the rumor is true. Hall is a brash and outspoken member of the organization, and his Virginia Tech ties to Mike Vick probably have prompted some in the locker room to view him differently in the wake of Vick's legal troubles. Today's actions would have potentially been enough to get a frustrated Falcon to convert hostile feelings toward Hall into action.

ATLANTA --You don't pull the (face) mask off the Ol' Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Steve Smith.
Even when he's not catching passes, his mere presence is enough to drive a defensive player and a whole team crazy. That's what happened to DeAngelo Hall and the Atlanta Falcons, who in the course of a few bizarre minutes in the third quarter, ruined what promised to be the first encouraging moment of the post-Michael Vick era.
Hall, who was assigned to cover receiver Smith most of the day, was flagged three times for 67 penalty yards in a critical third-quarter drive that opened the way for the Carolina Panthers to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 27-20 on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
With the Falcons (0-3) moving the ball easily on offense, keeping the Carolina offense in check and holding a 17-10 lead, Hall's implosion began with nine minutes, nine seconds left in the third quarter. He was flagged for pass interference (and 37 yards) when he tackled a wide-open Smith before Smith could catch the ball.
On the next play, Hall drew a 15-yard personal foul. Three plays later, Hall was called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Two plays later, the Panthers tied the score when Jake Delhomme hit Jeff King with a 5-yard touchdown pass.
After that, any momentum the Falcons had was gone. Although Smith only had one catch for 10 yards, his impact on Hall and the Falcons went a long way in determining the outcome.
Smith also won the postgame battle, sending some strong verbal shots at the cornerback.
"The things he was talking about are minute, about `I've been in as many Pro Bowls as you. I make more money.' Just real immature stuff," Smith said. "This isn't why I play this game. It ain't about how much money I make. I play this game for heart. I play the game to try to be an example for my kids.
"Obviously, the caliber of organization that the Carolina Panthers are, we don't have those type of guys there. They're lucky to have a key guy like him on their team."
Although the last part of Smith's comment was soaked in sarcasm, Hall's postgame words were filled with regret as he said he felt he let his teammates down.
"Yeah, I feel like that, but we had a lot of opportunities that we didn't capitalize on," Hall said. "Mine adds to the pile. At the same time, I feel like I'm a leader and I've got to take responsibility for my penalties."
Teammates said Smith was the responsible one for not drawing penalties as the two players had several heated exchanges.
"I've known Steve since his rookie year and he's matured a lot," defensive tackle Kris Jenkins said. "He took it upon himself to keep his composure and I take my hat off to him for that."
Said Panthers offensive tackle Jordan Gross: "I've known Steve since college, and I told him after the game that `Old Steve' might have negated some of those penalties. But that's why we love him, he's fiery, he's a competitor and he keeps getting better and better every game."
As Smith's composure gave him the upper hand in his personal battle with Hall, it also helped the Panthers take control of a game Delhomme and middle linebacker Dan Morgan left with injuries.
