Didn't the Pats block a FG yesterday? (1 Viewer)

One of my leagues uses fanball scoring. Yesterday I saw my Pats D had credit for a fg block. I watched the game at a bar and thought they said Seymour blocked the Fg in the first half. The NFL gamebook has given Seymour credit for a block. Today the block has been taken away. Anyone know if the scoring was changed?

Didn't the NFL recently change its definition of a "blocked FG"? I think it may only count as a block if the ball fails to cross the line of scrimmage.

:goodposting: It is considered a block if the ball goes backwards (or at least doesnt cross the line of scrimmage). A deflection occurs when the ball still travels forward. This created so much grey area in my league we eliminated this from our leagues scoring all together.

The Patriots D in my league is being credited with a blocked fg. The points associated with this are enough to change the outcome of the game. Where do you turn for a ruling - is this something the Elias Sports Bureau will comment on?

Today the blocked FG is back on for the Pats D in my league

Guess just had to wait for the week to end and get the "official" score

I just poured through the play by play on nfl.com and there is no mention of a blocked field goal.

This is getting a little harder to decipher. The play by play has no mention of a blocked field goal. On the GameCenter drive chart it states the Bears missed a field goal. However, if you look at Gould's stats for the year, it indicates one blocked field goal. The fg in question is the only missed attempt he has had this year.

The same confusion applies to the Seahawks blocking a FG on Monday night. The ball went forward, so by NFL official rules (as I understand them) it is a deflection and not a block. However, my league credited the play as a blocked FG.

I will push to eliminate all blocked kicks from my league next year. However, how can I get the official NFL stat on this issue? I see in both Gamebooks on nfl.com that there is an account of a blocked kick, but these aren't official (as acknowledged on the website itself)?

I noticed in the scoring, Gould is penalized for a missed field goal. Are blocked kicks considered a missed attempt by the nfl?
