NFL coaches don't have to stick with their lineups. Does anyone play in a league where you can actually sub players during the game? I mean player minutes per position would remain but why lose a match because your quarterback snaps his leg?

Anyone play in leagues with rules like this? Is there a reason why this wouldn't work? I guess you could go best ball but that seems like it would be less interesting than being able to sub players by quarter or something. Am I missing something?

I used to play in a league that allowed you to get backup QB points if he was on your roster if the starter was injured.

By starting team QB?

Sort of but you actually had to have the backup on your roster.

I Think you're missing the timing aspect: after kickoff, all NFL games move at their own pace. I don't think you could ever sub by quarter because the quarters don't match up timewise (it might be midway through the 4th quarter in one NFL game at the same time another game is just starting the 4th quarter...)

what happens if you can't watch the games or have access to a pc to react in real time? I think you would have to play best ball to achieve this affect.

i'd love to be able to set lineups by halves. sometimes you just know that a certain player isnt likely to get much playing time in the 2nd half and it would be great to have 4 halves instead of 2 games. so maybe i like players 1,2,3 for their 1st half, and player 4 for his 2nd half.

Same here (Zealots rules used to allow this). You designated a starting QB and a backup QB. If your starting QB left the game and your backup QB was on same NFL team, you'd accumulate points immediately. If your backup QB was on a different NFL team, you'd accumulate points from backup QB starting with the next quarter (so if your starting QB left game in first quarter, you'd get your backup QB's points accumulated in quarters 2-4).
