Had another trip to Australia recently and took the SLR. While I was happy to have the 18-200mm with me to get both landscapes and close-ups (kangaroos, cockatiels), I was disappointed at my composition skills once I saw the photo collection.

Bird This was on one of my walks - not in a zoo.

Bondi Beach Awesome place for walking, running. 7+ miles of scenic coastal paths.

great work. I like the last one the best. You caught a great day out there and did a nice job mixing up the compositions.

One thing that disappointed me was that I wasn't able to move around that much.. In fact I probably shouldn't have stayed and took the shots I did.

I had just setup my Tripod and framed my first shot when BOOM!!

On the right side of this picture across the lake there were two Shot gun blasts .

There was a Duck hunter hiding over there. Surprised I didn't crap my pants right there and then.

I probably should have packed up and got the heck out of there, but I could tell it was going to be great shooting once the Sun rose..

So I just "hunkered" down, kept low and hoped the ducks didn't fly close to me.

About 20 minutes later, after a couple other shots I heard a splash and then heard his dog swim out to get the duck. Would have been great to get that shot, but I felt unsafe as it was so I wasn't going to get any closer.

"Here I wait" is awesome, that bird doesn't seem rattled at all by the pending water.

Also really liked the perspective that you got with "Autumn Bridge", nice work on that, the leaves really sold the story too.

as for the bold part.. Got a few strange looks as I laid there waiting for people to clear the bridge. But in the end it was worth it.

Thanks! I did mean to catch that light, I noticed it in the classroom (one wall is all windows) and called him over for the shot. Cleopatra is in the same light, only she's kneeling under most of it. It's natural lighting, so something of a happy accident, but if it works in the final shot it counts.

I've just returned from an epic trek on the John Muir Trail - 12 days of walking 150 miles at high elevation. I shot about 1200 photos and some of them really turned out nice.

I 2nd this. It's funny how you can have an eye for one type of shot but not so much for another.... I just can't seem to "see" the urban shots well. You on the other hand obviously do..... Nice work!

I don't always respond to your picture posts.. But it is mainly because I have no eye whats so ever for "Urban Nature".. Some stick out as

Others just leave me because I would have never thought of taking that..

Either way, you do a great job of capturing that which I would never see.
