Well, I'm sure you have to pay extra for the water tower and smoke stack. There are 3 shots to this series. Click the more one next to it after viewing this photo.

Great picture!
You're a brave man.I can't complain.
The easiest way would be to use the lasso or pen tool to draw a marquee around the subjects (I usually view the photo at 200% while doing this to get the edge right). Once you have the selection complete, go to image>select inverse and then go to filter>blur and keep blurring until you get the desired effect.I need some photoshop help. what is the easiest way to blur the background of a photo? I have a couple of pics with a couple in the foreground, and dont want to remove the background but blur it so it is less noticeable. I have photoshop CS, but only know how to do basic things with it.

Hey Pant, or anyone else,
This pic of the hornet, I posted last week.....I would really like to try to fix the blown whites on the flower. This was the best I could do, but would love to tone them down a bit more...
Any tips/help/fixes would be great.
I am still a newb with PS, so I am sure I have not hit the peak yet.
I did levels, highlights/shadows, and brightness/contrast. Ran USM, and cropped.

I tired this but when I use filter>blur it blurs very little. Ive tried blur more but it doest seem to be blurring more. Any way to get tlhis to blur further? The easiest way would be to use the lasso or pen tool to draw a marquee around the subjects (I usually view the photo at 200% while doing this to get the edge right). The blur function is very subtle. Another thing you might try is using the blur tool. It's a lot more effective if you really want to jack something up. It's in your toolbar and looks like a water droplet.I tired this but when I use filter>blur nothing happens. Ive "blurred" it about 10 times with no results. Im using a jpg with one layer if that matters? The easiest way would be to use the lasso or pen tool to draw a marquee around the subjects (I usually view the photo at 200% while doing this to get the edge right). Thanks for the help. i found the "lens blur" filter which seems to let me crank it up at once. The blur function is very subtle. Another thing you might try is using the blur tool. I'd pull down the contrast a bit and pull down the white arrow on the very bottom of the levels pallet. Another thing that works very well as a quick overexposure fix is the exposure adjustment bar in iPhoto, if you have it. It's a lot quicker and gives pretty decent results.Since I missed out on the recent photo contest, I thought I would post a few things I have been doing the last bit...

Another question for ya - in photoshop when using the magnetic lasso tool, how can I slide the image over (if it doesnt all fit on the screen because its at 200%) without losing the lasso selection? The easiest way would be to use the lasso or pen tool to draw a marquee around the subjects (I usually view the photo at 200% while doing this to get the edge right). Yeah. Mac-only, as far as I know. It used to really suck, but the recent versions have some good tools for quick photo editing. There's also a handy iPhoto extension out there for doing batch uploads to Flickr.Hey Pant...Is Iphoto a Mac plugin???I am trying to find the prog, but it seems it is mac only....
