Digital Camera pic of the day (3 Viewers)

We backpacked into the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix this weekend and i got a couple nice shots. Check out my blog: Telepathic Stuntman
Nice blog Cactus...Some very nice shots there!
I just looked at these again...man, I would love to see Prague and Germany!!! I was born in Germany as a service brat, and have never had the chance to return.....One day!
Thanks man. It was a great trip and Prague was a bit scary but very interesting. We had six inches of fresh snow on the day we arrived and that just added to the drama of the city. I shot about 500 images in two days there and about 2500 images during the two weeks of traveling.

I think I read somewhere that there is a bridge in Prague that is widely considered the center of the world (Globe)I hear the wimmins are stunning and the bier is wonderful!

St. Charles Bridge is really famous - never heard of it as being the center of the world, but it is incredibly popular place to go. I was on it in the middle of a snowstorm and it was crowded - I can only imagine how crazy it is during tourist season St. Charles BridgeI can't attest to the beauty of the women because everyone was bundled up, but the beer (pivo!) is excellent! On one night at the hotel, my brothers and sisters and I drank many many pivo and the next day the front desk clerk told me they sold more drinks in that one night than they had in the previous month combined!

My sister and her family were robbed at gunpoint on a tram in downtown Prague and my cousin was pickpocketed just on the other side of the bridge. A shopkeeper at the square tried to rip me off about $60 and it was only through getting pretty aggressive about it that he gave me correct change.

So you have to be careful, but the city is intriguing enough that I would go back again.

Hey Cactus, not to hijack the thread, but, I my wife and I were stationed in Germany in the late 80's. We went to Dachua, do you have any more

pics? That was one creepy place.

yeah - very eerie indeed - I have a few shots, but to be honest it's the kind of place you go to feel the vibe and learn about what happened - I wasn't able to capture it in images at all. here's a couple shots that I did take: Entry, Gates of Hell, Ovens, I have a couple more but nothing great - spooky spooky place man... but well worth the visit.

I was born in Lahr. Is that close? I think the base is now closed.

Some recent mountain shots from the slopes on a fresh powder day.

Nice.. Is that a Avalanche in the third one??Oh and :finger: as I have to wait until June to see mountains :lmao:
That's actually Hourglass where my ladyfriend competed a couple weeks ago. They only open it during competition as far as I know. You can see the orange fence at the top where they drop in :lmao: You can actually see her just under the fence to the left.
This area in Crested Butte’s Extreme Limits is a steep, rocky hourglass-shaped section nestled against a triangle of heavily wooded cliffs. The resort’s “Extreme Limits Ski Guide” identified it only as a “Closed Area” between Spellbound/Phoenix Bowls and the Third Bowl. The section, with 1200 feet of vertical, ranges in pitch from 42 to 57 degrees, with trees, rocks and cliff bands, bisected by a narrow, ugly avalanche chute – both the steepest section, at more than 50 degrees, and the “easiest” route down

Was cleaning up some picture files on my computer and thought I'd share some from Augusta National. These were taken over Thanksgiving weekend from a couple of years ago.

My favorite is taken from the 12th green...we were playing in the last group and you can see the line of mowers that came down the 11th. My wife took the picture as we walked off the green.

The next is a picture standing next to the 11th green looking at the 12

Finally is a picture of the clubhouse. I think this is standing is front of the 9th green.

I use my phone's camera quite a bit.

This weekend, I went on the road with my dad; here's a blurry shot of another truck. It reads, "Viagra Professional Drivers Association: We Truck Hard".

Yesterday, I was grocery-shopping with a friend and found a roll of stickers sitting on a cooler. Amused, I peeled one off and stuck it on my jacket. It's like the sticker you get after donating blood, only better! :hifive:

A story to go along with the :own3d:

The hill in the picture was pure ice.

As I came around the corner at the top of the photo I slipped and fell on my butt. :bag:

The next thing I knew I was going for a ride. :own3d:

At one point I was going so fast I ended up sideways and almost went into a roll. :hey:

Luckily my foot finally caught on the side and I was able to stop, catch my breath and take this shot.

Sure glad I had my camera in my backpack and I didn't fall backwards on my journey down.

Ice Slide

That's boring. I wanted to see some random, out of focus shots taken while you were sliding down the hill. That would have been more interesting.

:lmao: Didn't have time. I went from the top to that place in less than 15 seconds. I was CRUSING! :drive:

Funny thing is I was wearing Long underwear under my hiking pants and when I got home I took off my hiking pants and my wife happened in the room at the same time and said:

"What happened to your A##??"

The green from my hiking pants had been "burned" into the a## of my long underwear.. a very nice green color too.

Just finished a great trek in the Superstition Wilderness here in AZ, hiked 4.5 miles to the base of a cliff where I had read about Salado Indian cliff dwellings. Camped there overnight and then climbed the wall in the morning to check out incredibly well preserved dwellings that are six or seven hundred years old. It was pretty cool and the three thirteen year old boys that went along (my son and his friends) had a blast playing with knives, fire, and free climbing dangerous routes. The weather was perfect and the sky was impossibly blue. The drive pretty much trashed my truck though - blew a shock, killed the transmission, dented the runningboards, broke the backup lights off - plus one of the kids got car sick from the hour-long bumpy ride through rugged rugged desert. I also had a five gallon jug of water that fell over and soaked our packs... my poor truck!

I've updated my blog with the best photos:

Nice :pics: ...I'm hoping to take your lead and try and blog my trip to Montana this June.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate as the Full Moon is suppose to shine 4 days into my trip..

Full moon over the mountains as the sun is setting could eat up my 4GB flash card. :banned:

A few more:

Red Wing

In flight

Dang Goose gave me no warning he was about to fly 2 feet above my head. I was busy taking other shots when I heard the flapping and looked over my shoulder and there he was. Did my best to capture something..

and than he landed.

I think with a little work to remove the reed right in the middle of that shot it could be a lot better.. Now to try and remember how to do that :tinfoilhat:

Here is a larger version of that one

Nice detail on this one and I like the focus on this one

Here are a few from the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. I hope you all like them. I am pretty embarrassed posting these in the same thread as Snogger since his stuff is usually outstanding!

Gargoyle
Thanks :lmao: This thread is what got me going. I love seeing other shots and learning from them

BTW.. Very nice shot.. I would have tried with a flash so as to bring out more detail on the Gargoyle.. but I like the angle/perspective. :yucky:

As for Cross.. I like the perspective.. Might have been better if you under exposed a bit as the Sun lite sky in the background takes away from other parts. Afternoon shots are the worst as you really have to watch the sun.
