Concept was there, just seems to be the wrong time of day. The sun light behind is to bright to give the shot the "darkness" it needs to really pop. Nice concept idea though

I just searched some reviews online and while they seem positive, they're not glowing. Have you thought about getting her a film camera? The medium format ones like the Holga and Diana are affordable and a lot of fun to mess around with. And they have kind of a young, urban hipster following that might appeal to a teenage girl (check out Lomography Society International to get a feel for it). The film and developing can be a bit pricey, but you'd still be saving money over the Nikon and opening your daughter up to a new avenue of photography. She has in fact had pictures published in photography coffee table books.
She has about 3 or 4 digital cameras that she has collected from friends and realatives that she uses all the time but they seem to limit what she can/wants to do. She has asked for the following camera for Christmas: Nikon Coolpix P80 She claims that she has done a lot of research and talked to multiple people (uncluding her aunt who has done some professional photo gigs in the past) abou the capabilities of the camera. She likes the zoom, shutter speed, FPS
My concern is that it is a little bit pricey as I have found it for $275 which seems a little bit much for a teenage girl but I want her to persue this as hobby. Can you tell me if this is a good camera? Is it worth that type of money? She is pretty responsible and takes care of other items we have bought for her inthe past ipod, etc.

I like that one the best. Every year a buddy and I go hiking/camping in the Smokies. We had to skip this year due to family/job commitments but are trying to get something together for the spring. We have always hiked in the late fall (end of October/beginning of November) so I'm looking forward to seeing the Smokies in a different season.

The column photo is my favorite of the three. I like to see the architectural features deprived of their context. It highlights the shape and structure and deterioration.The address photo is probably your toughest subject. The background is plain and the gate itself is ordinary. This is the kind of thing that probably calls for a jacked-up aperture to really get some bubbly bokeh going in the background.
I like the milk price sign in the background.
Urban photography isn't my thing, but you do some nice work.
