Dirty Dozen - NFL Playoff Contest (formerly the Wheelhouse Annual Playoff Contest)

This is similar to the FBG subscriber contest, but in this contest anyone is eligible to participate

1st place: lifetime subscription to Footballguys

2nd place: 2008 subscription to Footballguys + Footballguys hat

3rd place: 2008 subscription to Footballguys

Deadline to enter - 4:30pm ET Saturday January 5, 2008 (kickoff of first game)

The Rules:

12 positions to fill - 12 teams in the playoffs. *Choose only 1 player from each team to fill the 12 positions* (all 12 teams must have one and only one participant)

For example - if you choose Terrell Owens as one of your WR's you can't choose Tony Romo as your QB.

CLICK HERE TO ENTER YOUR TEAM - *** Limit one entry per person ***

Scoring format:

Passing yards: 25 yards = 1 pt

QB Pass TD: 4pts

Non QB pass TD: 6 pts

Rushing yards: 10 yards = 1 pt

Receiving yards: 10 yards = 1 pt

Reception: 1 pt

TE Reception: 1.5 pts

Touchdown (rush/rec): 6 pts

2 pt conv: 2 pts

FG 18-49 yards: 3 pts

FG 50+ yards: 5 pts

PAT: 1 pt

Defense sack: 2 pt

Defense/ST turnover: 2 pts

Defense/ST TD: 6 pts

Safety: 5 pts

*Def/St touchdowns only count when the defense or special teams is on the field for the scoring play - an offensive fumble recovery with yards would be rushing yards. If recovered in the end zone, a rush of 0 yards with a TD.

Your roster will look like this with one player from each team in the playoffs

Can't people just submit multiple teams? or use different computers etc?

This seems very fair and nice since not a huge amount will be playing. Just wondering thanks.

I don't think you'll be able to submit more than one, but I'll make a note on the orig. post for just one entry per person.
 
Choosing a roster is gonna take some thought. Obviously you will have 4 teams that lose in the first week, so you only get to use those roster spots once. Pick wisely...

Are last year's results available anywhere? I checked the thread from a year ago, and all it said was that standings were posted on the web site, but the page seems to be long gone.

Once signups lock at the kickoff of the first game, the main link will turn into a leaderboard page. You can then click on your teamname on the list to see your (or anyone else's) team. Results will show only cumulative points for each player, so per-week or even individual scoring category breakdowns will not be available. My online time on the weekend is limited, but I'll try to post results within an hour of the completion of each game (at most, an hour after the last game of the day).

If I come up short in this contest, will I have an oppurtunity to buy a footballguys hat? -Don't see a Footballguys.com "shop" on the home page.

How do we view our lineup after setting it up? I input my team earlier and clicked on the link and do not see where I can check my previously entered lineup. The link guides me back to the initial lineup setup page.

Is the scoring accumulated throught the entire playoffs or will teams be bumped out if they fall below a certain number of points like the subscriber contest?

Thanks again for running this contest - very fun last year. Would it be possible to get a summary roster breakdown showing how often players were selected across the contest? In this contest, we can have interesting strategy discussions right away - it would be great to know where players stand on rosters. Good stuff!

Pretty sure this is total points, just like the subscriber playoff contest (unlike the regular season contest).

:lmao:Yeah, good point. Since it's such a "minor" prize, I think we can go with the honor system. If there's a problem, I can check IPs on the back end. If this contest ever evolves to say a $10k prize, I suppose I'll have to upgrade the identification process. lolAs for the question of "how do I check my roster", well, there was a link provided on the "your roster has been saved" page. You didn't bookmark it? :moneybag: :lol: I'll get to work on a login/view roster link. :confused: (this was originally designed as a means to automate a friendly little contest that started as a thread, mainly to ease the process of scoring, and so is bare bones)
 
Login to view roster is now available (same link as before, scroll to bottom). Team name and password are CaSe-SeNsItIvE.

Currently 196 players (last year was 207ish).
