My sister is trying to get our extended family to move our trip from "Jersey Week" to the time right after Thanksgiving -- fly down Friday a.m. and stay until Wednesday or so.

My thinking is that airfares will be higher (at least for the trip down), Disney is less likely to have good deals (like the current free meal plan) and the crowds will be a lot bigger (at least through Sunday). Any thoughts on that?

The Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving are WAY busy - near summer crowds if I'm not mistaken. You are correct that your travel will likely be more expensive and the deals will be tougher to find. In general I'd say it's a bad idea. That said, that Monday/Tuesday should be awesome - the crowds will have all headed home. You'll go from uber-busy to seemingly empty.

Crystal palace is not our style.)Question: I have tried California grill and it was good (Last time we went when the firework convenstion was in town and saw the latest fireworks display right outside the window. Really enjoyed Citricos last November. We had a group of 23 and our own menu the first night. They brought the wrong meal to me. I came the next night for the steak they messed up on. It was worth it.

That's our favorite time to go and we will be there this year as well - either that Saturday or Sunday to start.We don't find it that crowded at all. It's off peak time to begin with so there are deals to be had. We've always done well, but this year we are buying points from a DVC member for like $350 to stay, probably, at boardwalk which is over $200 a night.The best part of that time is the weather is perfect, and all the Christmas stuff is up and running. It's just a perfect time to enjoy the park and all the "magic" there. Airfares we usually do ok on with JetBlue, although we may be driving this year so I can't answer that one.

Not at all. There will be walk up tables available. Get there about 4:00ish and ask for a table. You may have to wait a little while, but they always leave room in the que for walkups. As long as you are willing to eat at off peak, you shouldn't have a problem. I've posted this before - we were there one night and called every place we could think of at the last minute for diner. Everyone said no room. So, we decided to just go over to EPCOT and figure it out at that point. Once we got there I was determined to get the meal my wife wanted initially so we just walked up and asked for a table. It was around 4:00. When we called we asked for diner reservations (5:30-7:00ish) that was a no. But for 4:00? We got in about 10 minutes and within 25 of sitting down the place started getting packed.

Don't forget Japan and/or China in EPCOT for meal options.

I love Liberty Tree. There is a place across Main Street from Crystal Palace that was good but I forget the name at the moment. Don't forget the Contemporary Hotel for meal options. Also, Wilderness Lodge has a great eatery as well.

I would do Liberty Tree but like I said I have a bias there. You might want to try Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. Very very good food. The wait staff is intentionally rude and obnoxious (they throw the straws at you and if you ask for ketchup the entire place comes running and gives you all the ketchup they can find). Fun experience.

Good option when traveling with two. The meal option lets you pick an appitizer and a select of meals, but I perfer to resist te appitizer temptation and stick with the fillet.

I'm going to try to fly thru this thread at some point soon, but just wanted to throw some of this out there:

Taking my almost 4-yr old son and wife there for two days over 4th of July (3rd and 4th will be our park days). I'll be nearby for business the few days prior and we're extending the trip a bit on the weekend.

I've already told my wife more than once we're getting there when the park opens, especially that Friday. What we don't have is the luxury to head out when the park gets crazy crowded as we'll only be parking it for two days and we're not staying in Disney. I'm sure we can find some "downtime" things to do in the park (shows, eating, etc) though.

I'm guessing I'll still find alot of good info in this thread, even with my short stay, correct?

Is there anywhere to get discounted tickets or does Disney pretty much have a grasp on all that? These tickets are darn expensive, especially if I want a two day hopper. I'd love to go to Epcot again, but I'm thinking with the 4 year old it might not be worth 3 hoppers just for that half day. I'm sure we could easily spend 2 days at Magic Kingdom and not run out of things to do, right?

How much time depends on the ride, but if you plan on doing stuff just for the 4 year old. I would suggest getting a Fastpass for Peter Pan or Whinne the Pooh as soon as you get there as they go fast.

You should be able to do everything for the young one in one day. If you want to do the mountains and the kid stuff it will be tough.

Seems like a good website (especially if you are going for a week, you buy three days they give you three free), but I only see 3+ day tickets, not 1 or 2 day. I'll have to look at it a bit more.Thanks for the info.

You get them at the rides themselves. There will be a station usually near the ride entrance where you put in your ticket (it's like a credit card now) and it spits out a fastpass time. You return at that time and go right in.

Ride specific. One for each park ticket.You get one first thing in the morning then it will say come back at XXXX let's say 9:30. You come back, get in a much faster line and ride it in between 9:30 and 10:30 (I have been able to use it anytime after the time it says in the past. way past one hour.) However, before you do use it, you can go get fastpasses for another ride to start the timer again while you do the current fast pass ride.You get them right next to the ride itself. There will be people there to help guide you.

One of the original attractions when Disney World first opened in 1971, the Hall of Presidents is currently closed for extensive renovations that will include the addition of an animatronic Barack Obama. Obama, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington will all have speaking roles in the refurbished Hall of Presidents, which is scheduled to reopen at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park on the Fourth of July, 2009.

Interesting that they're also adding a speaking role for Washington. Previously it was just Lincoln and the sitting president.

Southwest Airlines has a one day sale going on today (flights to/from Philly half price) so I'm considering booking a trip to Disney in Orlando for the first week or so of June. I don't have a ton of time to do homework right now so I was hoping someone that frequents this thread might be able to help me out. Are there any good deals going on in the June 5-10 time frame? It would be me, my wife, and our two kids ages 1 and 3. Or are they too young to enjoy it? (Actually, I know the 1 year old would have no clue...is a 3 year old too young to really enjoy WDW?)

three year old is definitely not too young. My son's first trip was when he was three. He loved it. He still has memories from it. June 5-10 will start to be pretty crowded though. I was there that same time frame last year and it really got crowded the last couple days. The week prior to that is one of the bounce back weeks, so I would think you could maybe line up some kind of a deal.

I thought Hollywood Studios was a waste of time after the backlot tour and the stunt driver show. Everything else was boring. The Aerosmith roller coaster was closed after we'd waited 4 hours with a fast pass to go on it.

I did enjoy Animal Kingdom as there was lots to see and do that didn't involve lining up for an hour. The safari tour and the Kali River Rapids were awesome. My 3 yr old was in between the height requirements of being able to go and being big enough for a standard seat. He got to sit in the secured seat and the lady told him he was the captain. He loved it!

Typhoon Lagoon was beautiful. I could have gone there everyday. Love that lazy river and it's perfect for kids of all ages. My 3 yr old loved it too.

The most fun the kids had was in Old Town and at Fun Spot right next door to Old Town. They had bracelets for $35 and did every ride 3 and 4 times back to back with no line ups including 4 different go cart tracks. The crowds weren't so crazy that you were worried about losing them and it didn't cost a Franklin to grab a snack. Highly recommended. We went on Saturday and saw the classic cars at Old Town. Best day of the trip bar none.

I just got back on the 22nd and had an awesome trip. We were able to hit ride after ride. Sunday we went to Magic Kingdom and went on Buzz light year twice, splash mountain twice, thunder mountain(i skipped this and went to get fastpasses for peter pan), peter pan, laugh floor, hit the shooting arcade in frontierland, got a dole whip, jungle cruise, and ate lunch at caseys corner all before 1pm. Magic Kingdom is my least favorite park, but still is tons of fun if you do it right and then get out of there.

I live close enough to Disney to catch a glimpse of the nightly fireworks from my porch and I haven't been to MK once since I've lived in FL. I've been to Epcot twice and Animal Kingdom once, all with free passes through work contacts. Never been to Hollywood Studios. I had passes to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach a while back because they had a huge sale for Florida residents where you got a year of both parks with no blackout dates for around $79. Both parks are great. Aquatica and Wet N Wild are good too. I vastly prefer the Universal parks to Disney - Adventure Island is the best non-water park in Orlando, IMO.I usually hit Old Town about once a month to drink giant beers from Tropical Breeze and cruise around checking out the cars and hanging out at Sun on The Beach. Too bad I wasn't there last weekend, I'd probably have recognized you. I could have had my wife roll up and play some sort of practical joke on you. Damn.

Mom and dad took the oldest to Blizzard Beach. Typhoon was perfect with 9, 6 and 3 yr olds. Huge thumbs up from me. I loved it.

No, not in line. We grabbed the fast pass as soon as we got there and went and did the other things. The fast pass was for 4 hours later. ie picked it up at 11 and it couldn't be used until 3pm. All in all, Hollywood Studios just didn't have much to offer unless you wanted to sit and watch musicals. I did want to go to Disney, I didn't want to go everyday. My mom went ahead and bought 6 day passes plus 6 water park. We were only there for 9 days and lost one to rain/tornado warnings. It was too much with 3 small kids. We left on Sunday the 12th, did MK on Monday, Animal Kingdom on Wednesday, Typhoon on Thursday, Hollywood Studios Friday, Old Town Saturday. The kids also went to Downtown Disney and Disney Quest. Sunday we went back to Typhoon Lagoon.

If you stay at any of the resorts, you can park for free at any of the parks provided you leave your parking pass inside.

We only stayed 1 night, but parked for free at Epcot and saved $12

Tony's restaurant in the MK is awful. Food is overrated.

Ate at the Polynesian restaurant (not Ohana) in the little cafe-type place (forget the name) and it was

Had the barbequed pork chop and it was unbelievable. I highly recommend dining at the Polynesian.

Strollers should be outlawed at the MK! Forgot just how many of these things were there.

Ate lunch at Living Seas at Epcot. Enjoyed it very much. Well worth it.

Epcot is a great park to eat at. Animal Kingdom might be my other choice since you can enjoy Expedition Everest with the boys. Of course, Disney's Hollywood Studios has Rockin Rollercoaster and some great live shows as well. Plus, Star Tours.Ultimately, I'd probably choose Animal Kingdom if it were my choice to make.

Toes said his kids are 10 and 13. I had kids of all ages...14, 9, 6, 3. The 14 and 9 yr olds preferred the water parks.

Really? What about the Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Toy Story? Those are all pretty cool things to do at Hollywood as well.
