Divisional Round: Steelers at Chiefs discussion (1 Viewer)

Reid loves losing in championship games.  I'm sure they win this game and lose to pats next week. Bank on it

Nope. These are playoff teams. And good ones at that. Smart coaches, and players who can execute what they're told. Tyreek will be seeing minimal chances to return kicks/punts the rest of the way.
You overestimate the Steelers special teams. They are horrible at coverage and can't keep the ball away from play-making returners.

The weather is supposed to be freezing rain for the KC/PIT game, who does this give the advantage to?  Ben is usually good in bad weather, but he stunk in Buffalo. Bell can run in anything. KC running game has been weak of late, but idk how Smith is in bad weather.

How bad can you be when you're throwing the ball 5 yards at a time?

Says Ben. What is he supposed to say? I doubt I will be able to walk and we'll have no chance?
It's more based on re-watching the end of the game -- no limping, no trainers after the play and as he ran off the field after. There was no sign at all of anything wrong until he showed up with the boot and a crap-eating grin at the presser.

Well considering he trotted off the field after the game without any noticeable limp it appears the boot was only a precaution.  He also was not wearing it today.

I'm not suggesting he needs his leg amputated, but whatever he did they put him in a boot. He aggravated an old injury, which suggests his mobility could be partially limited. Not saying he won't play, but he'll probably be sore and at risk or tweaking it even more.

I have a feeling it won't be a factor but we will find out for sure on Sunday.

I too was on the "Pitt sucks on the road" train of thought but after looking again, that only applied to the 1st 1/2 of the season.  Over the last 2-3 months (since Dupree returned and the D stiffened up) that has not been the issue.

Pitt 27-20

The same coaches that had Antonio Brown returning punts, L Bell running for his 27th+ carry, and Ben getting laid out in the 4th up by 24 late?  Those coaches?  Yeah, those guys are too smart to make a mistake.

Special teams are a particular concern of Steelers fans.  Hopefully the Steelers coaches won't forget that Hill had a 78-yard punt returned called back on a penalty in their first meeting.

I heard a caller from KC on one of the Pittsburgh talk shows say that people in KC are freaking about the weather forecast for Sunday.  Should make things interesting...

Historically the Steelers have played well in KC, as they are 10-7 all time which is pretty solid. As a Steelers fan I expect a good game and obviously hope we win, but it will be a tough game. Tyreek Hill returning kicks and coming out of the backfield makes me nervous. Other than that the KC offense isn't too scary. Weather apparently could be a major factor. Should be a fun game to watch

Yep, game of the week imo and now it's the last.   Giddyup!

Not sure that the results of games from before the current roster was born has any relevance on what to expect this week. So sure, I would expect the Steelers to have a winning record playing in KC during their decade of greatness in the 70's when KC had a losing record pretty much every year.

In the battle of Tomlin vs. Reid, they have played each other 5 times and the home team won every time.I didn't look at things closely enough, so not sure if the home teams in those years were just better or not.

I think the worst of the ice storm should have passed by game time so probably overcast with temps in the 20s. The field is covered and heated so no issues there, just cold.
According to weather.com's hourly forecast it supposedly be 34 degrees aNd 90% of rain throughout the game.

... any reason NBC is showing NHL hockey right now instead of Steelers @ Chiefs? On DirecTV, if it matters.

Did it snow in KC yet?  From looking at the weather, it might have been better to have kept the game at the original time as the storm is coming in later ????
