***Divisonal Round Playoff Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Rivers taunting the crowd......Typical.
I'm not really big on Rivers attitude, but taunting the crowd isn't exactly a Rivers only thing
You may be right but I've seen Rivers do more taunting in the last few weeks than any other qb in the league.....
It's different because he is a QB. You don't normally see that from QBs, but taunting happens every game. It's not like he is running into the middle of the field and mocking people. I have seen much, much worse.

The Chargers played tough. The whole national media gave them no chance to even be in the game. It will be the same story next week.

I really hope Rivers can play next week. It'd be nice to have LT and Gates as well.

Volek made some nice plays today, but the Chargers will need Rivers.
I gave the Chargers very little chance at winning this game. They proved they are a much tougher team than I or anyone could have thought. That was what this win today was, pure toughness and no quit. That said, NE is a far more difficult challenge than Indy IMO.

Interestingly, as important as they say it is to score first in a playoff games, the teams that scored first this weekend are 0-3 so far.

Well one thing's for sure. New England is going to CRUSH San Diego.
Just like the Colts were going to crush the Chargers huh. Maybe we should stop predicting games? :homer:
It will be a VERY good game, unless Rivers and LT are out. If the Chargers get healthy quick then it could be a very very good game, but without Rivers and LT it will be a much harder climb for the Chargers.
Patriots will destroy the Chargers
Why do you think I was rooting for the Chargers today? lol

Congrats to the Chargers and their fans.

Needless to say I'm surprised they pulled it off, but they did. Well done.

Enjoy the victory and good luck next week.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHA Too bad Manning won't get the chance to get slapped around by the Pats next week. Love how the MIGHTY MANNING can't get it done against a team with the 2nd string QB and 2nd string RB. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. Can't wait for the excuses for Manning and the Colts.
:confused:I agree. I mean come on manning how did YOU not stop that 2nd string QB and 2nd string RB.. Dam, you can't play defense for S##T!!!!!!
Well that is true. Manning looked pretty bad on that attempt to tackle Cromartie.

I'm calling it now. Conspiracy, ya I said it. Conspiracy. Penalties at opportune times all day. The NFL obviously wants the PATS in the Super Bowl.
The Colts/Patriots matchup would've been much more compelling than Chargers/Patriots, if there was a Conspiracy they would've wanted the Colts to win this week.

Agreed. I just hope he comes back next week. I would love to see him do the same thing next week......

Great game. That's the NFL at it's best. Maybe it helps not being a fan of either team.BTW, it's official. Rivers is my most hated player. Wasn't sure I could come up with one, but that cat takes the cake, LOL.
Gotta be impressed with the Chargers hanging in there without LT and Rivers (and with a banged up Gates).Rivers had a great game and it's really a shame he has to throw himself into a yelling match with fans that naturally are upset. I appreciate the fact that some guys have to act all intense while playing (not sure that's benefitting your cause as a QB though) but there's a difference between being intense and just being a jerk.

Oh great, now I get a week of Shawn Merriman trying to tackle the English Language.

Surprised at the lack of respect the Chargers are getting here. This is a very good team who played their best football the 2nd half of the season.

I cannot wait for the game next week, should be a very good one. If nothing else, it should be pretty physical.

SD deserves credit for winning, but Indy just self-destructed today.
I'm not sure I understand why that's amusing.
You say SD deserves credit. Then don't give them any.
They deserve credit for taking advantage. But I don't think they got Indy's best effort. That's all I'm saying.
:lmao: They beat the Colts. On the road. And overcame some seriously BAD calls.

I'm starting to get what people say when they call Manning a choker.
He put the ball perfect on Wayne, the last pass was on Clark's hands...didn't seem that bad to me.
final four passes:5 yard dump-off to Addai in the middle, little chance of breaking a big gain and no chance of getting out of boundsbadly misses Addai on dump-off to the left sideline.Throws it on target to a receiver who is going to get leveled if he catches the ball. He laid his receiver out on that one.arcing pass to Clark that he should have caught. Maybe a little high.I'd give him a B-, D, C+, A- on those four passes.Threw 50% more incompletions on that mini-drive than Brady threw all game.

Along with injuries to LT, Gates and Rivers. Anyone who thinks SD didn't EARN this win 100% is simply blind.

Yeah, not really sure how this one is on Manning at all. Two INTs deep in SD territory that were both his receivers's fault, a couple of more balls at the end that hit his receivers right in the hands, the fumble by Harrison deep in Charger territory, and a defense that couldn't stop the second string offense of SD. Absolutely ridiculous to put that one on Manning in any way.He completed 69% of his passes for 402 yards and 3 TDs. Both INTs were the fault of the WRs. But yeah, it must be Mannings fault.

Once Norv benched Tomlinson and Rivers, the offense really started clicking.

Do you want a clear and distinct difference between Manning and Brady? Brady takes what the defense gives him. You play deep, he throws it short. You play short, he calls a fly pattern to Moss. Manning loves to chuck it deep, even when they've got a two deep zone going on.
The talk about Brady and the Pats was way too heavy in a thread that has nothing to do with them, but I thought this was pretty accurate.

Guess we disagree then.

I don't understand Peyton taking the blame for this one. The Colts D was garbage today. They got shredded by Volek, Turner, Vincent Jackson, and Sproles. This is a lineup the Chargers would have used in the final preseason game.

I do like the way the Chargers play football. I just don't think they match up very well with NE. Especially as beat up as they are now.

Now comes the week-long violin fest of excuses for the Chargers about how banged up they are in order to soften the loss against the Patriots. Boo-hoo.

I can't tell you how bad I hope they win next week.

You have to wonder if Merriman had never taken steroids would he have been able to get past Ugoh there at the end and disrupt Manning's pass.

If anyone wants a preview of this (edit: next week's) game, check out www.nfl.com and do a search on week 2.

if not for the harrison fumble and keith tipping a very catchable ball into the air he would have never been put in a score or go home situation.

Any Colts fans want to attempt to explain that gameplan, of completely ignoring the running game?
I'm guessing the injuries to the RBs had something to do with it. Then again, this certainly isn't the 1st time we've seen this team pretty much put the game in Manning's hands and hope for the best.

he's been off them for awhile... most benefits of steroids, at least in terms of quick twitch muscles, are short-lived gains... See, i did wonder about it

Merriman only tested positive for steroids once, and that was well over a year ago. Do you think those steroids are still in his body? Do you think Rodney Harrison still has steroids in his body after testing positive this year?

Hey, I like the guy a lot and he had a great game. But he had two shots to win it when the money was on the line, and he didn't get it done.

should also note that the Chargers have to go from Indy, to San Diego, and then to Boston Mass...o and its gonna be cold. When was the last time the Chargers played in the snow?

:goodposting: However, if the Manning bashing has any effect on the number of commercials I see him in I'll say he blew it. I am waiting for when he starts driving a Jeep and singing with animals.
