Dizon (1 Viewer)

I had high hopes for this guy, any hope this guy wins the middle job in the offseason?
I will step in...the answer in no. Talking the people around the team it was evident from day one that Dizon is too small and not strong enough.

It is impossible to know if or where Dizon will play without knowing who the coach is and what other players are here next year.

The Lions strength coach lives next door to a family I know in Plymouth. The guy I know is just like us, so I get all the dirt on the Lions.I was told this about Dizon. Dizon would weigh around 180-190 if he was not bulked up. 215-220 is about as big as he can get, he has small wrists and ankles, and basically small boned for a NFL LB.

Hard to say, as Tony noted, before the front office and coaching questions are settled, but I have very low expectations for Dizon right now.

Is it possible that Dizon can still translate his productive college numbers into an every-down role in the NFL and that it was Rod Marinelli's bias against playing rookies in important positions that held him back?

Sure.

However, the fact that Dizon had trouble beating out Buster Davis for a backup role, never got a look over the likes of Alex Lewis, Ryan Nece and Paris Lenon during a season easily considered lost by mid-October and couldn't stay healthy in a reserve/special teams role are very poor signs for his future. Add in the odds that the team will move away from a scheme that's been more favorable for smaller linebackers and that Dizon's primary supporters in the front office are gone and I'd be looking to rid myself of him for anything of value.

Dump Dizon right away. Mayhew just said in the presser that the defense is too small, and that he is sick of getting pushed around on defense. That the defense has to get "bigger" everywhere.
