That is not true. Hackett is a #1 WR when he is healthy. He may have had trouble staying healthy last season but he will be a star soon. I still think Seattle re-signs him.

It depends upon how much Moss wants to stay in NE. I'm willing to bet that if Moss resigns in NE, it won't be for as much money as he could have gotten in at least one other place (not that it will be for cheap though).

Interesting article in today's Prov Journal about the Pats' ability to be "shrewd" after S.B. wins and their willingness to dump aging all pro players looking for big paydays. I think Moss will be satisfied with one ring and will be enticed away from the Pats for a bigger payday. Once again, the dream team of Moss/Owens playing together will rear its head, but someone other than Dallas will have Moss next year.Maybe even Seattle.

No one knows for sure, but my opinion on this is polar opposite. Moss languished on a crappy Oakland team for 2 years and everyone knows how much he hated it. He probably would have paid money to play for the Pats after that experience. I don't think for a moment that getting a ring will persuade Moss to jump at money if it means playing for a bad team again, or even risking playing for a bad team. *IF* Moss does sign for a team other than the Pats, it will be a perennial winning organization; it definitely won't be taking the money to play for an average team. I also think people are overestimating the number of options he'll have. It's just reality that there are probably 15 teams who would not touch Moss with a 10 foot pole given the state of their team, and Moss himself would probably rule out 15-20 as not being competitive teams. I'd say it is 95% that he returns to the Pats, signing for a deal similar to the one T.O. signed in Dallas.I think Hackett will resign in Seattle. He just hasn't done enough to get real money from other teams. I would be surprised if a team threw money at him given his injury history. [Make that pleasantly surprised.... dynasty Hackett owner.]

And if there's even one NFL GM that thinks like this Hackett will get way overpaid. Hackett's most productive season in the NFL was 610/4. Engram is coming off an 1147/6 season and had eclipsed 610 yards 6 times in his career.They ratio of hype/production on Hackett is getting close to Matt Jones territory(btw Matt Jones had had 643/4 season... so maybe Hackett has passed him).

They have a decent enough defense(if tubbs comes back on the dline and trufant is signed) but they need another stud DL in the middle. They'll need to jettison Alexander(cap hit will be spread out post June 1)

From what little I have seen of Obomanu, he just doesn't impress me at all. He gets minimal separation. I don't think he is the answer.

My understanding is they don't owe the base salary against the cap while he is suspended (it hasn't been paid out), but that the Falcons have to actually recover the prorated portion of the $ paid out for the signing bonus before they can deduct that hit from their cap - it's one of the reasons he's still "officially" a Falcon and on the "Suspended" list.

The Redskins have kept a low profile so far in FA, which is what Cerrato said they were going to do. Hackett, however, was on their short list of FA's they were interested in, and now that Zorn is in Washington I'd expect a serious attempt to sign him. He'd be a great fit for them.

I agree that if his past injury history is indicative of future performance, then his value is limited, but I also know that certain players take longer to learn to get their bodies into the shape needed to get through a 16+ game season and postseason. This was true of guys like Fred Taylor, Isaac Bruce, Donte Stallworth, etc. I've never heard that he doesn't work hard, so to me as a 'Skins fan who wants my team to sign him, he's an excellent "buy low" WR.

He got a high ankle sprain this season which takes a long time to heal and it got hurt again when he came back. That's only one injury problem that I can think of and is completely cured by an offseason of rest. I really don't believe "injury prone" applies to him. Maybe I am forgetting past injury, but I don't recall one. His biggest problem was having too many vets in front of him. As for practice, he may have had a slightly bad rep, though that was mostly speculation when he wasn't being given PT over underachieving WRs like Burleson in 06. After he won the job from Nate he was often praised, through the ofseason to the start of 07 as working hard at practice. His only sin against the practice gods was to miss the first two days of camp for the birth of his daughter. After which he was immediately put on 1st team while Nate moved down to WR4. Basically injury prone and practice doghouse labels are just overreactions to and don't really apply.

Last 4 games of the 06 season he had over 350 yards and 2 TDs, including a great game against TB in the reg season finale. And that came after a huge game against AZ 3 weeks prior. I was at that game and he was nowhere near hobbled. If he was hobbled at all, it happened in the playoffs. For the reg season, he beat out Burleson for the second half starting duties. I just don't see, looking at his game logs a guy that has been more injured than healthy, especially in the end of 06 which is what cemented his starting position for 07. A high ankle sprain that bothers you throughout the season you get it in does not make you injury prone.
