DJax cut by SF (1 Viewer)

After adding receivers Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson since the start of free agency on February 29, the 49ers have opted to trim from the roster veteran wideout Darrell Jackson, reports Adam Schefter of NFL Network.

It’s unknown whether Jackson has anything left, but teams that run the West Coast offense will likely have an interest. The most likely destinations include the Vikings, Bucs, and the Eagles.

As a DJax owner hoping to salvage whatever little value left, a signing by the Eagles or Bucs might be ideal. Also, looks more and more like Bryant Johnson may indeed be the #1 in town.

Anybody else feel like this is exactly the kind of guy Snyder salivates over?

This is the type of guy the Vikes have been getting lately - Marcus Robinson, Koren Robinson, Robert Ferguson...

Please, no.

A trade? Doesn't this mean he was cut?

The DJax rumors seem to be WAS, PHI, MIN, TB.

What about?

CAR

HOU

CHI

BUF

TEN

NO

KC (probably not, youth movement)

DAL

SEA

STL

Wasn't there just a thread about what it means when bad teams cutt players? D Jax is D Done. I wonder if his attitude had much to do with it as he had alienated a lot of Seahawks his final two years there. Getting an OL project for him last year wasn't such a bad deal.

Oops, my bad. Fixed above....thanks.

Is DJax done? Seriously. The Seahawks let him go cheaply to a intradivision rival, and now those same 49ers cut him. Is he really DONE?, like retire done? His days of FF usefullness are past.

Jason Hill sleeper? Hopefully he's over his groin and hamstring problems. Maybe Martz finds a use for Hill this fall. With Jackson on his way out of San Fran, and the additions of Bruce and Johnson, it's not like Hill can't surpass one of those receivers, and at the very worst become the #3. I look for Lelie to get cut.

Battle is decent, but nothing special. He could end up starting however.

Think he's better than most give him respect for. He's improved every year and his stats are similar to Hines Ward who was in a similar situation (converted QB to WR) - just at a later age.

I believe San Fran will sign DJ Hackett now. They need to complete their trifecta of wide outs from divisional rivals.

Isaac Brue - formerly of St Louis

B Johnson - formerly of Arizona

DJax Hackett - formerly of Seattle

The signing of Bruce and now B. Johnson tells me that at best Hill is a slot receiver, but doesn't SF still have Battle too? He may emerge, but there are still several veterans in front of him.

Of course he's behind those guys, but that doesn't mean that's how it will be come November. It's not like "those guys" are world beaters.

Sure, a lot of things could happen...Battle should have been included in the mix, that's all I'm saying....Excluding Lelie in the conversation would have made more sense, to me....Id

You're right. I left Battle out by mistake. Shows how much I think of him, lol.

Battle was their best WR last year and he has always done well when healthy. He will definitely be in the mix. He isn't ever going to be a great WR, which is why we fantasy guys dismiss him, but in the real NFL game he is a solid contributor.

Yes, fantasy players do often forget about Battle, for obvious reasons. It's not like SF has been a hotbed for WRs the last few years, but the hiring of Martz (who is overrated by the way), changes the perception of the SF WRs in the eyes of fantasy owners. Someone like Hill probably has more upside than any WR on that roster, so with the hiring of pass happy Martz, we might get to see some of that talent before the first snow fall.

Maybe, but Martz offense is also notoriously difficult to learn and Hill had trouble learning the offense last year, which is why he played so little. With the signing of Johnson he is not the player with the 'most upside'; Johnson is.

Hill "played so little" because of injuries. Johnson's upside is known, Hill's is not. Johnson's route running has little to be desired. However, Johnson is a decent WR, but his upside is known.

Before Bryant Johnson was signed, Pat Kirwin and T Rock were talking about how ideal of a situation it would be if A. Battle could be put into the slot. They mentioned that good things could be expected from him if he lined up there in Martz's system. Take it for what it worth...

I'll let someone else take upside, and I'll take the guy that did a good job whenever the ball managed to reach him. I like Battle's game a lot, and I could easily see him putting up 80+ catches in this offense. However, I reserve the right to change my mind. This San Fran situation is one offense I will watch all offseason. If word starts to leak out that this guy or that guy is taking to the offense like a duck to water, I will adjust my board accordingly. I think Martz will establish his favorite players early in the year, if some July investigating yields the next Mike Furrey, then it'll be worth it.

All those who discount Battle will look foolish after next year. Mike Martz has made his third WR (Furrey '07, McDonald '08) look like true number ones in the eyes of the stats. Esp in PPR leagues. Let also not discount that even his 4th WR last year caught 60 balls. Battle is in line for significant targets this year. He has always perfomed when giving the chance, whether it be WR, punt returner and even QB. He is a gamer who will excell given the opportunity. Nolan is the head coach and he and battle have a great relationship. I see battle as the guy to own this year given ADP.

My guess on ADP come AUG will be . .

Bruce - 5th Round

Johnson - 10th Round

Battle - 13th Round

Based on the predictions I will take Battle everytime. I may be biased as a season ticket holder but I beleive that given the opps Battle will produce.

I would be absolutely stunned to see Bruce's ADP anywhere near the 5th round.

.........plus, I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson drafted before Bruce.or Battle out produce both of then from the slot.

Bruce in 07 was WR 51 according to Ant Sports and taken at 117th overall. Switching teams and on SF, there is no way he will be taken in the 5th, I would guess closer to 10th at the earliest.

So how bad does this hurt Gore?Is Gore even a top 15 RB next year?

The signing of BJ and IB, and the cutting of DJ all have no huge impact on Gore, but the signing of Martz sure does. I can't figure out whether I am wanting to buy or sell this guy.

Since when was Darrell Jackson a bad player? Every season except for the last one he's put up good numbers. No receiver could do anything in that horrible 49ers offense last year. There are any number of teams out there who should sign him. He'll cost less money than Javon Walker, Bernard Berrian, and Donte Stallworth and he could easily outperform any of them.

Just to back that up a bit, they said he did a good job as an outside WR, but could do MUCH better working in the slot.
