DNA Ancestry Testing (1 Viewer)

Has anyone paid for DNA testing to trace your ancestry? Costs range from $180.00 - $300.00 and is done by taking a DNA sample from your mouth and sending it to a lab. They claim they can trace your ancestry line.

Sounds really cool but has anyone done it?

National Geographic had something similar where you sent in a swab and they could tell you how your genes migrated. They might still have a link on their website.

My girlfriend's Dad did this. He sent a swab to National Geographic. He was way excited to get the results. It showed where his people migrated from and to where. It went back thousands of years. It's a cool thing to get....but the novelty wears off real quick...then you are left a few hundred bucks poorer.

I saw this and figured it was dated. 2007 DNA testing and 2014 DNA testing are like flip phones v. iphones

My blonde wife did this and found that she had mostly northern European ancestry--Danish, Swedish, English, and surprise--a very small percent of sub-Saharan African. I figure my kids should be eligible for affirmative action.
