Do the Pats ever run the ball consistently? I'm just asking (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

Not trying to find their weakness but are they capable of handing it off in the beginning of the games? Seems like they throw it to the point you disregard the run...Maroney is the starter and hasn't one carry...and I don't own Maroney in any leagues, one of the few I don't own.

Defensive lineman are gonna start teeing off on Brady if they don't run at all. Gotta keep those guys honest.

I assume they could if they wanted to, They just dont need to at this point
Really? Don't you have to at least make an attepmt at some point? I bet Pittsburgh or Blitzburg will br ready for this next week. I think you have to bring 5 almost every play in some sort of zone blitz package. Pittsburgh is excellent at doing this, almost invented the thing. Should be fun.

I think they will still be running on a 6-7 man front every play. You have to like those odds for any running attack.

If they continue this pass happy no run system, I can see two problems. Teams are going to figure out how to ignore the run and bring enough heat to beat the crap out of Brady and can they just flip the switch and start running the ball when they need to?

on another note per DY... He says there is a chance Maroney could be gone after this season.
Trade?
or even released...I guess Pats management isnt thrilled to have the guy. He wouldnt rule out the Pats picking a RB with the 49ers pick
I find that very hard to believe.
Pats seem to like Morris a lot. Might be drafting a back this offseason. Faulk is in for passing downs and Evans is taking a majority of GL looks. So why pay Maroney all that money for limited action?Id be suprised too, but in a way it also makes sense.

I mentioned that the Pats were not thrilled with Maroney's durability and that the next several weeks would be important for Maroney to prove himself for his longer term future with the team.

He certainly has not produced uber stud numbers, and tonight's game only muddles the issue (why didn't he play the first half?). I don't ever recall saying that the team would take a RB in the Top 10 picks in the draft next year, but I suppose with NE you never can tell.

I do remember saying that IF Maroney kept getting banged up and IF he was disappointing the rest of this year, that PROBABLY the Pats would explore other options at RB (from potential studs to free agents to guys to bring in as depth). I would call 10 carries for 31 yards tonight a bit disappointing.

But it's clear that something doesn't add up in the Pats and Maroney equation.

yeah there is definitely something behind the scenes that we dont know about between Bill and Maroney. Has to be. He looks bothered on the bench most of the time and Bill never even talks about him in his press conferences, nothing. I mean if he trusted him at all, he'd at least have PLAYED HIM ONE SNAP in the entire first half. That's incredible, common logic says they can't keep throwing like this yet they come out every single game and keep throwing like this. I think it will eventually cost them but it hasn't yet so I guess they'll play with fire until they get burnt.

The only thing I can think of is Maroney had a closed door, unannounced team suspension for the first half. I'll see what I can dig up . . . just not at 2 AM.

Through week twelve they are 8th in rushing attempts, 7th in rushing yards, and are in a 4th place tie for third in rushing tds. They are 7th in passing attempts, 1st in passing yards and 1st in passing tds.

Off topic, but the Pats were SO running up the score last night kicking that extra point when they were ahead by 2.
