Do the Pats really have 3 Pro Bowl O line man ? (1 Viewer)

If so they should stay home next week ! Seriously either they just really had a bad game , the Giants D line is the worlds greatest ever , or the Oline were just really overated ! I am going with the later.

You have 3 Oline pro bowlers and the Giants rush 4 almost all game with the ocasional 5th and the patriots can't stop the rush even doubling Osi or Strahan ?

Granted Brady didn't have his greatest game but it weasn't awful he still threw for like 260 and a TD with no int.. Brady had like 2 -3 seconds every time he dropped back untill a Giants dlineman was hitting him.

Pats D played well - that last drive NYG got a fluke play when they needed it -- Eli made a great scramble and Tyree came down with the jump ball. What lost it for the patriots was the Oline.

They gave Brady great protection all season but in this game they were terrible. Brady had zero time to throw and Maroney was met in the backfield on almost every running play. Agree they're a bit overrated but the Giants came to play in a big way.

you live by the pass, you die by the pass

good OLine's have NO chance against a good DLine, if they can't (or won't) rush the ball

the ears get pinned back and they're off to the races

I agree with this. It still boggles my mind how amazingly well the O-Line played all year compared to how porous they were last night. If they really have the potential to be that bad how did no other team take advantage of this all year? Makes me think that the "mystique" and "aura" that the Pats had contributed to teams' D not attaching Brady the way they could. Also cements the thought that Brady's and Moss' TD records should belong more to the O-Line than to Brady and Moss themselves.Amazing play by the Giants D-Line though. Amazing.

Not everyone has a Uminyora, Strahan, Tuck, etc. to throw at you, plus their D coordinator called a GREAT GAME! He kept them off balance all night and had guys coming from all over the field.

The Pats' OL had their worst game of the year last night. Matt Light and Nick Kaczur will give up a sack now and then, but normally they can be counted on to hold down the fort more often than not. Last night they were repeatedly abused by Umenyiora and Strahan, especially Strahan. Kaczur looked like Max Lane against Reggie White in SB31. Light was clearly rattled as evidenced by a couple of false starts.

However, they aren't even the biggest dissapointment. That goes to Logan Mankins, rated by many as either the best guard in football, or second to Steve Hutchinson. Justin Tuck ate him for dinner. I know Tuck is great, but Mankins all year was demolishing guys and last night he looked like John Hannah did against the Fridge in a forgettable SB20 performance. Funny how two highly regarded guards on the Pats had their worst games as a pro 22 years apart in the Super Bowl.

I don't want to dismiss what the Giants did last night with regards to other aspects of their pass rush. The Giants did some creative things as well to cause pressure. They often put a guy directly over Koppen who's not used to that considering all the 4-3 fronts he faces that leave him to help with a double or go after a LB. Koppen has struggled in the past with a bull rush with a guy on the nose so last night wasn't all that surprising; Good scouting job by the Giants. Also, Koppen looked lost at times in picking up the well-disguised blitzes, another good job by the Giants.

Still, Light, Kaczur and Mankins weren't asked to do anything special scheme-wise in picking up blitzes. Their job was straightforward...take care of the guys in front of you. They failed miserably. Strange, because Light and Mankins (O'Callaghan played RT for the injured Kaczur) did an adequate job against Umenyiora and Tuck in the week 17 matchup.

Yes!

And, apparently they were in Honolulu getting ready for the ProBowl when they should have been in Arizona.
