Hard to say. I think Kyle is replaceable but can’t see Jack doing if without him

Maybe after some time passes but this seems like a career ender like Kathy Griffin, Roseanne, Louis CK

His career didn't end, it just ... changed.

Same thing with the (Dixie) Chicks.

In both cases they repelled some of their audience but made other parts of it more fervent.

So it's possible the same thing could happen here.

Kyle replaceable? He's half the band! Kyle taught Jack how to play guitar.

I support Jack Black 100% and I think when you are an entertainer, that's your focus.
I'm not the least bit mad at his partner in crime, I thought JB was a little harsh and quick to cancel the tour
I also think JB is thinking about the many movie studios he has projects ready to drop or release, this is not about his pockets, he's got plenty.
Jack Black is thinking about all the folks that make an honest living by working on his projects and I can appreciate him wanting to preserve jobs and careers for all those who sacrificed on the many films and projects he is currently working on

Quite frankly, I think he acted in a way that many wouldn't and I felt he was putting the livelihood of those who surround him ahead of his own personal agenda
To me it showed great leadership and I'm proud of how he handled this situation

I'm also not upset at his partner, **** happens and when you are on stage in the moment, he made a slip and I forgive him because millions of Americans felt the same way like it or not

Good thread Nipsey, thank you!

They were about to do a Rock the Vote Tour. They had no choice but to cancel. Jack just performed at the LA Biden fundraiser and took a picture flanked by Biden and Obama. Jack has people to protect his projects that are already in the can.

Oh, I didn’t know the whole story. I knew Ten D made a comment but I’ve been trying to avoid all politics since I’ve spent the past five-six months immersed in some really heavy stuff coming from all quarters . So my comment here isn’t about anything substantive. Just a quip about humanity and indelible D tattoos.

Agreed, he's done a world of good fundraising and bringing a spotlight to a wide variety of issues.
He's a person that can reach people that can't otherwise be reached

His real paychecks are coming from DreamWorks and Nintendo so it could also be motivated by $$$. Don’t want to lose that Super Mario Brothers 2 gig.

He made “a slip”? No he didn’t. That’s how he feels.

I’m not on the cancel train and agree JB probably shouldn't have canceled the tour given that some people are totally cool with what was said.

ETA - Re-reading your post because I can’t believe you actually wrote that. You think there are millions of Americans are upset that a person wasn’t murdered?

Mop - Down with murder. Nioce.

The comedy rock duo Tenacious D — made up of Jack Black and Kyle Gass — has canceled the rest of their tour after Gass’ remarks about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

While onstage at a concert in Sydney on Sunday, Gass was presented with a birthday cake and asked to “make a wish” by Black. Gass responded, “Don’t miss Trump next time,” an apparent reference to the rally shooting a day before that left the former president with an injured ear. The video of Gass was widely circulated on social media.

“I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” Black said in a Tuesday statement on Instagram. “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Following Black’s statement, Gass apologized on Instagram.

“The line I improvised Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake,” he wrote Tuesday. “I don’t condone violence in any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement.”

The band recently completed dates in the U.S. and Europe. Their “Spicy Meatball Tour” was slated to continue Tuesday night in Newcastle, hitting most major cities in Australia and New Zealand this month before returning to the U.S. for a select few dates in October.

“Frontier Touring regret to advise that Tenacious D’s concert tonight at Newcastle Entertainment Centre has been postponed,” their touring company announced in a statement on Instagram Tuesday. “Ticket holders are asked to hold onto their tickets until further information is available.”

When asked for further comment, a represented for the band directed the Associated Press back to Black’s statement. Details on refunds for the remaining tour dates were not immediately available.

One can argue whether Black canceled the tour because he thought it was the right thing or he was protecting financial interests or was urged by the Democratic powers to be. Or other things. But I'd rather us not do it here please.

"Jokes" wishing for a presidential candidate to be murdered are obviously awful.
