Do you believe in ghosts? (1 Viewer)

Do you believe in Ghosts? Have you seen a ghost? Do tell if you have stories.

Me personally, no, I do not believe in ghosts. If I happen to see one, I still won't believe in ghosts. I will simply think I had a hallucination.

Weirdest thing that ever happened to me was the night before my Grandmothers funeral. I didn't call her before she died, despite my mother asking me to. Nevertheless, at about 3AM my wife and I are awoken by one ring and then immediately the noise from both the phone in our bedroom and our kitchen being off the hook. Both were on speaker mode. Not only that, but on the one in the kitchen (a traditional hang on the wall one) the receiver was knocked off the hook and laying on the floor.

Sure, I guess there could have been a spike in the lines causing both phones to somehow switch to speaker mode while at the same time knocking the receiver off of the one in the kitchen......but I don't know.....as soon as I heard that initial ring, I just flat out thought it was her. This was a couple of years ago.

Nope. I have been creeped out a few times working alone in old houses. I know a guy shot himself in one I was working in. Weird mojo in that one. I also had one my dog simply would not enter. He's a good boy too. He would fight and fight to not go in that house.

Probably not.
Isn't Jesus technically a ghost/zombie? He rose from the dead correct?

** disclaimer - this is an earnest question.
You are such an ###
I haven't laughed this hard in a while.
It's pathetic that you get off on being an internet troll. Good for you.
You are completely missing on why I am laughing. But you look good on that high horse.

And you look like a #### once again. You have quite the reputation here.

eta - earnest question stands, despite the obvious reaction to it.
Well I'm going to move you to ignore to avoid continuing to see your silly attempts to offend those of faith. I truly hope that one day you are able to find peace with whatever it is that makes you dislike people of faith so much.

Jesus died and rose from the dead (per Bible/Christianity). It follows then to me that that would make him a ghost or zombie (or both?).

Both a serious question and one asked tongue in cheek from where I have been today in the FFA (where the sense of humor comes in).

Regardless... to take offense here is trying to take offense here. This is ridiculous. Lighten up. IT IS A THREAD ABOUT GHOSTS. Damnit now I am laughing again.

One time I was in my basement for for three hours straight watching a game and posting on internet forums. Then all of a sudden a rack of clothes fell down. There was no explanation.

I will disappear and let posters with more substance take over.

Too many people were able to see through my posts.

Thank god so far nobody does.

This lady I work with said she believes in ghosts and told me of a few times when she saw one. I apparently offended her when I said "just because you saw a ghost doesn't mean it was actually there".

Most people have a hard time questioning their own faculties.

Well wait a second here. Who is this Holy Ghost I hear about?

A character in a fictional book.

Last year we were up at the Christmas Farm Inn in Jackson N.H. in a supposedly haunted room (salt box). There were a few little weird things in that room that we noticed in retrospect, but one incident stood out.

On two different occasions during our first night there, my head was lightly banging against the wall while I slept. I was dreaming that a kid that lived in the room wanted some sort of attention from me or to play. As I had just got back from a long day at Santa's Village with my own kids, I wanted him to just leave me alone. He kept tapping my head to annoy me in the dream but I was so tired I ignored him. I finally woke up to find my head lightly banging into the wall next to the bed while I was half sitting up in a weird position. I wasn't spooked at all and even thought it was a ghost kid then. I was so tired thought that I didn't even care. :-)

The next morning I was debating on telling my wife about the dream as I showered. Before I had a chance to tell her, she said that she had woke up the night before, to see me banging my head against the wall while I slept. She said it was weird but she figured I was dreaming or something. She tried yelling over to me but didn't want to wake the kids so she fell asleep (nice, huh). I was on the bed across from her. As soon as she said that I started laughing and she knew.

Stuff like this has happened before to me and my wife really thinks I am a medium or something. Dead family members and people do come talk to me in my sleep, but I think they are just very emotional dreams. Usually I wake up crying and exhausted from them.

Anyway, on the second night of our visit the same thing happened to me. I didnt remember anything but my wife saw the whole thing and woke me up. I was in a different bed with her the second night. She was a little freaked, out but the worst case for me was that it was some annoying ghost kid who just wanted to play. Anyway, it was all probably just a dream.

A ghost is typically the spirit or soul of a human being where as a zombie entails reanimated flesh. I actually think that the Jesus described in Paul's letters, a revelatory Jesus, is very ghost-like. The Jesus described in the Gospels however, is in fact a zombie magician. So to answer your question, it depends on who is telling the story.

To the answer the OP, no.

Technically the glorified body in the NT (both Jesus and what will happen to believers in the kingdom) are both tangible (I.e. not a ghost) and perfected (I.e. not a zombie). So reincarnate Jesus was a physical, perfected Jesus.

Weird that most posts in this thread have to do with Jesus. Never woulda guessed. Turning into a great debate. You're all winners on that one.

But the Holy Spirit -- formerly known as the Holy Ghost -- is definitely a ghost.

Zombie Magician?

What kind of armor class is he and what kind of saving throws does he have?

Chaotic Good?

I experienced sleep paralysis once at a motel. It was an weird feeling not being able to move for 5 seconds, feeling like somethig invisible was sitting on me. That was the only time it happened, it seems like if I was prone to that, it would have happened other times in other places. Anyways that's the closest thing I've had to a ghostly experience.

No, I don't. - However last night I was at a very old house in the French Quarter, I got a tour of the whole thing, and someone pointed to one room and said it was haunted. It's the only room we didn't go into. I was ok with that.

Yes. I went to eat at one of those all you can eat Brazilian steakhouses and those ####in cows stayed with me all night.

I believe there are phenomenon that occur that cannot currently be explained by science.

I have a lot of them occur around my family, not sure why. Is it ghosts? Doubtful but I dont rule it out.

The freakiest occured to me three years ago. I went to Oktoberfest and got into a big (drunken) fight with my wife. The worst we have had in 20 years.

I was staying on for work, she flew home. I got to the hotel (I changed cities...not the same hotel the two of us stayed at) and unpacked. I hopped in the shower.

When I got out there was a picture on the desk. It was one of my wife and I in happy times that was on a picture board at home. I can say with 100% certainty it was not there when I got in the shower. I did not pack it to bring with me. Was I meant to see that picture at that moment in time??

So yeah...I am not ruling out anything.

I would say that no, I do not believe in ghosts, though I find the paranormal to be fascinating and have taken part in several "ghost hunts". Would love to do it again but just haven't had the time in the past few years. Briefly interned with Ben Radford and Joe Nickell at the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry as part of a college course many years ago.....was very cool and has continued to pique my interest since.

Your wife packed it and your brain didn't recognize it. Sorry, but no ghost packed a photo for you.
