Do you drop bye-week fill-ins when you're done with them? (1 Viewer)

I own Wentz and Ertz on separate teams. For Wentz's bye, I picked up Keenum. For Ertz's (and his injury the week before), I got Delanie Walker, who had been dropped while he was hurt.

Now they're both coming back (unless Ertz's injury is serious, which it doesn't appear to be). I have no further use for either player ... but ...

It does seem weird to toss talented players back onto the WW, where they will certainly get picked up (14-team and 16-team league) and potentially get used against me. On the other hand, I want (but don't need) the roster spots, and it seems wrong to waste them on guys who have no value to me.

In previous years, this hasn't typically been an issue for me, because I usually don't hit on my bye-week fill-ins. A couple years ago I got Ben Watson for Kelce's bye, and was able to trade him for a WR, but in this case we're already past the deadline.

Anyway, not trying to make this an Assistant Coach thread (I've pretty much already decided to drop them). Just curious to hear other's philosophy on this question. Do you sacrifice a roster spot to block other teams?

I rarely if ever carry a backup TE or QB.

Just my own personal philosophy.

It can hurt or be a blessing.

I dropped Alex Smith back onto the wire and he’s outperformed my starter most weeks.

I held Jack Doyle an extra week after starting him for Gronk, then flexed him yesterday and look what that did for me.
