Do you get a 'pass defensed' if the ball hits you AFTER (1 Viewer)

i know the BUF scorer is renowned for handing out defensive assists and passes defensed as long as the defender is in the same area code ...

but can you honestly give a pass defensed to a CB (McGee) who got hit by a pass after it goes through the offensive receivers hands?

Barber reached up to catch pass about 3-5 yards IN FRONT of McGee, missed it, and it hit McGee in the chest and dropped

was this a homer favorable scoring issue or do you really officially get a PD as long as the ball touches you whether you defended the pass or not?

i tivo'd the game and watched it again real fast trying to find the "other" 3rd PD for McGee but couldn't find it so i'm guessing this was the one
