Do you have time limits during your live drafts? (1 Viewer)

I am just curious if anyone is in a league where the commish actually has and enforces a time limit during the draft.

I say this after almost pulling my hair out doing a cheap RT Sports league last night. 2 minute time limit for each pick, and some of those clowns were using almost the full 2 minutes for most of their picks, including their first and second round picks!

Not that I am in a big hurry to get it over with, but when you get unprepared bozos slowing a draft down to a crawl, it is pretty annoying.

Oh, and for the record, I make most of my picks pretty quickly in most drafts (and not to be immodest, but almost always draft well :P ).

In the local league I commish, we have a rough time-limit of one minute per pick. We're usually not in a huge hurry and guys are generally pretty quick with their selections, so I'm not super-strict about enforcing the time-limit. That said, if someone is taking ridiculously long, the whole league starts busting his chops and the pick is made pretty quickly.

No, but we do live (i.e. in-person) drafts on Saturday afternoons. So there's no need to speed it up, the whole point is to hang out and have fun. If I was drafting "live" in front of a PC on a Monday night, I'd probably want strict time limits enforced.

Not sure I understand your gripe though, it sounds like you had a time limit and it was enforced.

The way I look at it if you are alloted two minutes for a pick thats how long you have. Sure it might be annoying and take forever but that's how the draft is being ran.

yes...1:30

honestly, through the first 6 or 7 rounds I'm taking at most 20 seconds per pick. After that, it can get a little confusing but I still never even take a minute

We started enforcing a 2:00 time limit this year, after dealing with two owners who were taking 10+ minutes for every pick last season. This season the draft flew by and was much more exciting.

One of the main redrafts I run is all military...most of us were stationed together when we started. We used to do a live draft and it was a blast. We never had timers then....just a good "common sense" rule of thumb. Since the beer was flowing and everyone was having a blast, nobody really cared if someone took 5 minutes or 2. Now we have all been geographically separated, with many in different time zones and overseas. Since morning for some means bedtime for others...vice versa....we had to speed things up a bit while drafting online on MFL. We implemented a 2 minute timer for the past few years that we've had to draft online.

Just make it 1:00 per pick and each owner gets 2 timeouts in the draft, each lasting an extra minute if they are struggling.

We have a two minute time limit at our live draft, but its only really enforced by harrassing the person to make his pick once he approaches and/or exceeds the time limit.

Theoretically 2 minutes. But our drafts are events. Typically 4 hours to do 15 rounds. But we take breaks, cocktails, stogies, "entertainment" - you know...Just finished ours at a suite at the Del Mar Hilton. Torrey Pines golf, racetrack, draft - I'm still recovering..

We don't but I wish we did. 2 of our owners take WAY longer than everyone else every single year. I like to hang out, have fun, and enjoy the draft; but when it takes you 10 minutes to pick your kicker, or you take 5 minutes in the 3rd round to draft Maurice Jones-Drew despite this being a keeper league where MJD was kept (and really, would have been drafted early in the 1st round if not kept), then it starts to get annoying.
