Do you listen to Sirius NFL radio? (1 Viewer)

I would have to say "Moving the Chains" with PK and Tim Ryan is the best. They offer expert analysis along with some great humor. There are very few analysts that have a talent for explaining complex football concepts to the casual fan. Excellent show and I highly recommend listening. :excited:

I love the Afternoon Blitz with Shein and Solly. I cannot stand when Miller is there. I do like Shein as I am an energy person and he "brings it" every day. The show is not the same when he is not there. He does go back and forth on opinions sometimes, but Solly can quickly real him back in and give some good analysis. Great show! The show with Sharpe on is terrible. I like that they moved the morning drive to 7 A.M. EST so now I can listen on way to work. Every show is getting better through the years. Sirrius is awesome!

I like BMac as a host. He seems to move around quite a bit but is mostly on Late Hitsits. The best show by far is no longer on the air. In the first year Schein was paired with John Riggins. It was the best pairing the station has ever had in my opinion. I like Schein but he can be a bit overwhelming at times and neither Solly or Miller can fit the bill as well as Riggo did. Riggins was friggin crazy and his off the wall personality really fit well with Schein.I suppose I like the Opening Drive as much as any of them.

That was indeed a great pairing Munchkin. I missed Riggins a lot last season and I think Adam did as well. He's kind of seemed to struggle with the rotating sidekicks since, but I think Solly does a great job and Jim a very good one.Kirwan is the top horse in the stable but I rarely get a chance to listen to him so I'll go with the Blitz as my favorite show. That and any show Jerry Rice is NOT on. Phenomenal WR, horrible (though improved) radio personality.

 I love this two guys together. I am however glad that they do not do the ladies hour any more. There is only so much of Tim Ryan talking about getting in the "A" gap that I can take. If you listen to Kirwan he also gives some great insight into who you should start on your fantasy team just by talking X's & O's

i've had it for about 4 years. i like every show on NFL radio and pretty much all of the hosts.

i will say that i think gil brandt needs to retire. i think he stopped being relavent about 20 years ago. i'm sure he's a great guy, but it's getting extremely hard to listen to him.

Every time I listen to Gil all I ever hear is "Is what it amounts to". He has a few sayings that he uses so often and out of context that I also find him very hard to listen to.

Moving the Chains with Pat and Tim for sure. I like Solly a lot too, but Adam Shein is beyond obnoxious. He's like **** Vitale on steroids.

and it's close cousin..............".....is what it is....."

i don't really pay alot of attention to who is who, but i'm assuming that adam shein is the guy that's always say "....and we are FIRED UP on a football [insert day of week]!!!!"he is a bit obnoxious, but i think there is a place for him. i couldn't take if there was more than 1 guy like him, but it's nice to hear a guy that just loves football. obviously, he goes overboard, but i think i like him no matter how ridiculous it is. (and he's the one that started calling the jags "america's team" and i like that)

I love Shein.

I hate Randy Cross.... He has dumb jokes and repeats himself and lacks smarts in my opinion.

I listen to Mike and Mike on the drive in to work and the afternoon blitz on the way home.

For hardcore knowledge, Tim and Pat can't be beaten. I learn something new every day from them.

My one must-listen segment of the week is the picks with Adam and Jim on the Afternoon Blitz at 6:05pm every Friday. Totally gets me pumped up for the weekend. "ALRIGHT JIM MILLER..... IN LOVELY WESTERN NEW YORK"

Miller has grown on me. He brings good insight, and he seems like an everyman. The one thing which drives me crazy is that he still says the word "obviously" every five words or so. It's a really bad verbal crutch he needs to shake. Still, if you can get past that, he is a good listen. I still prefer Solomon teaming with Adam, however.

Gil is indeed tough to listen to, but he'll quite often bring a stat which has me saying "REALLY?" to myself. Look past the delivery and listen to the man's knowledge, of which he has vast amounts. He's been around since Moses wore short pants. Mr. Brandt is a valuable asset.

Every show would be better if they never opened up the phone lines. 90% of the callers are annoying, or morons, or both.

Best part of the Chiefs sucking this year is that I dont have to put up with Bam Bam calling in every 1/2 hour

Dan Reeves was great when he was on the show. A bit dry, but that man has some serious credibility.

I like Shein. I can see how he could rub some people the wrong way, but he brings it every time, and he always has an opinion. It also amazes he how he always remembers tidbits on each and every caller - they must have a huge database with notes and tidbits from everyone that calls in.

I don't get the "Shawn E. Butler" love though.

Amen RN.
Ditto. Adam does get on my nerves, but on the whole he's ok, I do like Solly though. Unfortunately, I leave to early in the morning and get stuck with replays of either the blitz I heard on the way home, the barber shop, which I don't like much, or Moving the chains, which I do like.Randy is OK, he just needs an extra cup of coffee, he sounds totally bored most of the time.

Agreed! This guy calls EVERY show. Okay, we get it, you like football.

I got Sirius for Howard Stern but totally love the service for a lot of stuff outside of him now too.

NFL Radio is my #3 option behind H100 and H101. I listen to it all the time.

I like the Morning Drive because I think Randy Cross is quite opinionated and while I don't always agree with what he says, he clearly isn't concerned with stepping on the toes of other players or management in the NFL.

The Afternoon Blitz is my 2nd fav show. Adam Shine is priceless. His delivery is so over the top that at first listen you think he's just a gimmicky baffoon with no substance (see: Glanville, Jerry) but then when you listen more you realize he's a good dude with a lot of knowledge and just has a colourful delivery.

Great service, keeps me sane during the NFL off-season. Two thumbs up.

:football: :lmao:

My one major gripe with the Sirius NFL channel is that they don't replay the Fantasy Football show from Friday night some other time on the weekend other than like 4 am on Sunday. There's no reason why they can't rerun it Saturday morning/afternoon.

Favorite personalities: Kirwan, Ryan, Cris Carter

Least favorite: Gil Brandt, Carl Banks, Schein after 30 mins

Also, a random question- anybody know why they have the home broadcasts of every team EXCEPT the Tennessee Titans? Always found that strange.

I like every show.

I think Schein is great, he brings good energy to the show as well as good insight. He pairs well with Solly, Jim Miller as well as Tim Hasselbeck when he was on last week.

I can listen to everyone but Jerry Rice and Shannon Sharpe...Gil Brandt is a little tough to listen to.

They do the re runs of the Fantasy Football show on Saturday AMs, not sure what time it starts but I do listen to it on my way to work -- from 6ish to 7:30 ish

I like the Barber Shop.

....and listening to the Dallas feed from the game last night was quite good as well.

Cannot tolerate it when Jerry "UM" Rice is on. Absolutely unbearable.

It is painful how he can't say a complete thought without at least 2 "UMs" in every sentence.

Other than that, I'm a fan of Sirius NFL Radio and prefer it when Total Access is on over The Barber Shop.... the Barbers seem more pretentious than informative.

This was pretty much the evolution of my opinion of Schein as well. I don't know who it is, but the only thing that annoys me is a guy that says nearly every player in the league "is going to be a good player for a long time in this league" (I know I've said that already here once) by the end of this season I think he will have covered everyone in the NFL and then some.

It does seem Schien is pressing the "Jaguars = America's Team" prods a bit much lately, or maybe I'm just noticing it more now.

Bingo on both counts. I can't even comment on Rice anymore because I refuse to listen to him. I haven't done so in over a year. As soon as I hear his name announced as the co-host, I change the channel. He is without question THE WORST radio "talent" I've ever heard. I don't know what Steve Cohen was thinking with that hire. Okay, he's a big name. Great. But once you hear that he provides almost no meaningful insight in between the "ummmmmms"... why not correct your mistake and cut him loose? The Barber Shop isn't even worth any more of my keystokes. The show is a complete

Adam totally annoys me. He brings TOO much energy to the show and I dare someone to count the number of times he says "Sirius NFL Radio"...

Jerry Rice....no vocabulary

Shannon Sharpe...painful to listen to. He reminds me of a talking horse like Mr.Ed

Everyone else is great.

Man, I agree that Riggo was awesome, but Solly has come a long way. When he is out that show struggles. Still my favorite. I love the picks with Adam and Jim, but the MUST LISTEN in my opinion is 5:00 Friday with Chad Johnson. That is the most entertaining stuff in sports. He says something new each week, and he doesn't hold back. He is funny and just a great listen. I don't own CJ in any league, but love to listen to the guy. If I am going to be out of my car, I have my radio on, and I rewind it to listen to that segment. It is spectacular.

That's the idea. You remembered it, didn't you? He has a cadence, like a QB. Say Sirius NFL Radio... Say Sirius NFL Radio... Say Sirius NFL Radio. It's all about product recognition. He's simply a good company man.

I've told this story before. I couldn't stand Adam's voice when I first heard the show. I found it very annoying and distracting. But when I heard how passionate he is about the game, I began to listen to WHAT he was saying rather than HOW he was saying it. Now, I don't even notice the "odd" way he sounds. I even sent him an e-mail telling him this, and he thanked me.

Great thread. Love the Sirius NFL Radio. I like Schein a lot. He is very knowledgeable and makes me laugh. He invented the Tony Romo bandwagon. He's the president, CEO, and Chairman of the Board! I like him paired with Solly more than Miller but like others said I live for the Friday 6 pm picks with Jim Miller. I love how it opens with clips from the previous picks, like Schein saying "there is a 0 percent chance the Saints lose this week". Really gets the juics flowing.

I like Bob Papa a lot. Big Bryan McGovern fan too, but he unfortunately does the Late Hits show with Jerry Rice, who is terrible.

Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan are awesome. Those dudes know their football.

Gil Brandt has some interesting nuggets, though his "is what it amounts to" is a mess. I've started using that phrase around family and friends just for fun. Try it, it's good stuff.

I can't stand the Barber shop. Those guys are so full of themselves. They always have their agent on. How lame. Rhonde isn't that bad but Tiki is brutal.

I'm a Randy Cross fan too. I don't like when he uses big words at the wrong time in order to sound smart, but other than that I like his insight and honesty.

Some of the weekend shows are kind of weak, like Vic Carruci and Dan Leberfeld.

I probably could have summed this up more easily by saying "I love almost everything about it". Great entertainment.

I think Keyshawn stinks on TV but his Sirius show Taking it to the House was pretty good. He was opinionated but not overboard and he always kept the show moving along at a nice pace.

Schein is the man...great radio voice...great energy!!

I cant stand Carl Banks...don't know why...just do.

I dig it when Shannon sharpe calls Bob Papa..."Papa" all the time...it's just the way he says it...kinda humorous.

On a lesser humorous point I like when they mess with Randy Cross in the morning with that deep announcer voiceover "RANDY CROSS"!! Kinda funny!!

OK im a geeky SIRI 124 all day listener!!!

It's even funnier when he calls a different host "Papa" :blackdot: My favorite show is definitely Papa and Sharpe. I used to like Steve Cohen and Cris Carter when they were on a few seasons ago.

Can't stand Adam Schein. I appreciate his love of the game but I seriously think the man has a drinking problem. Of course the problem might be that I am not drinking enough when I listen to him. The guy jumps on and off bandwagons every week and if any caller has a different opinion they are being a fan and not being reasonable. The condescending tone he uses is almost unbearable. I can't tell how many times I have heard him say "You just made a wonderful point!" and then proceed to tell the guy what the point is.I like Pat Kirwan but why do I feel like I am interrupting a phone sex hotline anytime a lady calls in?

 Jerry Rice - great WR, terrible host. Jim Miller has good insights, but says "No question" way too much. Afternoon Blitz on Friday at 6:05 ET is THE BEST 30 minutes of radio on radio (terrestrial or otherwise). My only complaint with Sirius at all is that they don't podcast their NFL content, especially that Fantasy show on Fridays with Adam Kaplan.Sirius NFL is enough to keep me subscribed for a loooong time.

I have had Sirius for a little under a year, and I can honestly say that I never plan on listening to anything but NFL radio anymore. That is all I need, and I plan on being a subscriber for a long time.

I completely concur on Jerry Rice. I have to actually turn off Sirius NLF radio when he is on. I sent an email complaining two years ago and he is still on. It is hard for me to fathom that his "star" status outweighs his horrible vocabulary, delivery and radio personality. Maybe they will read this thread. He just came on 20 minutes ago (repeat) and I am switching over to Alt Nation...

Other than that, I can hang with all of them. Don't really notice a difference since it is just background noise and I can catch some tidbits to help with FF...

Could not agree more. Jerry Rice's inability to get through a sentence without multiple 'uh's and 'y'know's is horrible. His use of 'duh' for 'the' as well as 'dis' 'dat' and 'dem' is reminiscent of the old black and white movies that made fun of african americans. He is utterly unlistenable, and as others have said, I have to change the station when he is on. The other ex-athletes on regularly are reasonably to very well-spoken. Why they keep Rice on is one of the mysteries of the age.

Not to beat the Jerry Rice thing to death, because I concur with all of the Rice bashing, but I think I know why they haven't pulled the pliug on him. The meathead callers love him. He's a really nice guy on the phone and will say stuff like "So how's it going man?" and "How's your day going so far?" and he really comes across as genuine. Most of the callers (whom I agree should be limited) gush over the opportunity to speak live on the line with one of the living legends of the NFL and perhaps one of the most popular athletes of the modern era. Forget Dallas as America's team. In the 80's if you jumped ship on your hometown team because they sucked, well guess who you rooted for, yes that's right, Montana and Rice and those Niners. I prefer my hosts to be coherent but lots of people are googly eyed over the star factor and that probably won't go away, especially when that guy is super nice to boot.

Pat Kirwin and Tim Ryan on Moving the Chains are head and shoulders above the rest. Most of the time on other shows the hosts just regurgitate the same stuff over and over and don't provide any new information. umm, umm, Jerry, umm, you know, umm, Rice, umm, is, umm, you know, umm, horrible, umm, umm, as, umm, a, you know, umm, speaker. Nice guy, interesting comments, but I can't even listen to him anymore. I just turn 124 off when he's on. Somebody tell Randy Cross that nobody cares what TV show he watched last night. Either that or move him over to lifestyle (or whatever the equivalent channel is). Moving the Chains also gets the best people to interview and asks the best questions. They ask detailed questions and get interesting info out of their guests while respecting the players/coaches and the game.

Kirwan reminds me of the guy everyone knows that is and old playa from the 70's. He's in his 50's now and can still pimp. He probably has a hot 38yo on the side and likes to drink Scotch. He has the ability to vocally molest a lady over the phone lines.
