Did Mike Tyson rape Desiree Washington

Tyson was with a lot of women, like tons and tons of women... Why was this the only one who ever claimed to being raped? IDK, seems like it would've been accused much earlier in his life if this was his M.O.

There was quite a bit. I put it in the previous post. Medical examination data, testimony from the limo driver, explanations as to how she ended up in his room "in her pajamas," etc.  I was saying there's not much in terms of objective stuff on the internet about the case.

The driver said she was distraught... No ####, she got ####ed and then he told her to take a hike, i can understand a young girl thinking she was special, then being used like a piece of meat feeling like this. 

The explanation of how she ended up there in her pajamas? He called her room at 136am and she came to meet him straight from bed, didn't even put on clothes. This could be argued more for him than her.

I have no idea how they got a conviction on this. My only guess is some farm town jury in Indiana and big bad Iron Mike, his fate was sealed before he entered the court room.

I'm not a rape medical exam expert, but how can they differentiate between rape and consensual, especially when you've got a guy like Mike Tyson prob roping around a 19 inch ****.

Under lead defense lawyer Vincent J. Fuller's direct examination, Tyson claimed that everything had taken place with Washington's full cooperation and he claimed not to have forced himself upon her. When he was cross-examined by lead prosecutor Gregory Garrison, Tyson denied claims that he had misled Washington and insisted that she wanted to have sex with him. Because of Tyson's hostile and defensive responses to the questions during cross-examination, some have speculated that his behavior made him unlikable to the jury who saw him as brutish and arrogant.[67] Tyson was convicted on the rape charge on February 10, 1992 after the jury deliberated for nearly 10 hours.

Jurors probably felt fortunate he did not rape each of them in the course of the trial.  Mike Tyson then was not the friendly oaf of the Hangover movies.  He was a rampaging, dangerous, out of control libidinous black stallion in the minds of many.  He was an archetype from the fevered imaginings of frightened white folks.  He was a raging hard on ready to beat down all before him and then sate himself with armies of virgins. He was unstoppable.

Me, I have a difficult time believing that Ms. Washington did not understand she was going over for sex.  I can imagine that he frightened her and that she wanted to leave before going through with it.  I can picture him not hearing her protestations at that point.

In the end I did not hear the evidence and have no idea whether he did it or not.

I do wonder if a part of Mike liked the mystique of being a jailed boxer, like Rubin Hurricane Carter.  I wonder if that may have contributed to some of his behavior in trial. 

He has done an amazing job rehabilitating his public persona.

I mean, why would you? How many experts are there with experience in rape kits in the world? How about in the United States, even a smaller number, right? How many on FBG, much much smaller number? Maybe zero one would think... So you're probably accurate to not guess that.

 
Never understood why the limo driver's testimony was treated like gold. He said the girl was upset. This = rape obv.

No, it's really not. 

Otherwise, every murder trial would start with a defense attorney saying, ''Hey my client has met thousands of people!!  He hasn't murdered any of them.  Are we supposed to believe that he started murdering NOW?  Just a part of the puzzle.......''

My own fault, clicking on victim-blaming threads is never a good idea for me.

The comparison of meeting people = murder to sex with a lot of people = rape might've happened somewhere isn't a good one. 

Of the people in this thread, almost 2-1 don't believe she was a victim :shrug:

This is a really stupid thing to say.

Look man, there may be a million reasons that she may go to his room at 2am in her pajamas, yet she still got raped.  Shoot, the main reason for going could have been "I want to have sex with him."  But that doesn't mean she couldn't have been raped.  She could have gotten there, and be completely repulsed by what she saw.  She could have decided at any point "well, I thought I wanted to have sex with him, but now that he's acting crazy, I just want to get the hell out of here. . . ."

There could have been a TON of ways that that plays out.  Just because a woman, at one point in the evening, wants to have sex with someone, does not give him a season pass to have sex with her at any point in the night over her objections.

He's actually much sharper than he'll ever get credit for. I remember watching a documentary about his life a couple years ago (in which he narrated) and I came away with the impression that I should've listened to the "never judge a book by it's cover" idiom. Once you get past the lisp and face tattoo he comes across as someone who is able to articulate his thoughts in a very clear and concise manner. I think he's legitimately intelligent. 

 
I really don't know but if you forced me to an answer- I would go 'no'. The biggest thing for me is what @cstupointed out about him taking the jail time for other things even though he maintained innocence on rape.

I can see how Tyson thought she legitimately consented when she came to his room and she not seeing it that way.  Guy's have huge ego's and aren't all that perceptive.  

 
I know one of her child hood best friends very well.  She always insisted that 100% without a doubt he did it. These were not ghetto girls, they were from Warwick R.I.  Not that that really makes any difference to me, I just know that if she was from the hood, people would look at it differently. I believe that my girl believes her girl 100%, even to this day fwiw.
