Do your leagues let owners trade FAAB? (2 Viewers)

Were doing it in my league and owners are whining about the value of the players being sold "I would have paid way more than that" " I can't imagine anyone would have paid that if he was in the free agent pool"

My response: sour grapes-- in scenario 1: too bad for the owner of the player that he sold him for less than he could have gotten elsewhere. Maybe he should have put him on the market, maybe you should have been more proactive. in scenario 2: Its the paying owners $$ to spend how he wants. if he wants to pay $12 to cuff aaron jones w/ Montgomery-- be my guest.

FAAB is a commodity just like draft picks. No real reason not to have them available. Owners could have the same complaint about an offer involving picks or even players. Let whiners whine.

Interested to see the responses, as our league is thinking about doing it.  Our league software allows for it, but there's some concern that someone could accumulate enough FAAB bucks to basically Steinbrenner the rest of the league when it comes to free agents.

Outside of obvious collusion, I go with the sour grapes side of things.  I'm an old school work the phones kind of GM, so I've seen plenty of those "I would have paid way more than that!" message board posts.

One of my dynasty leagues allows FAAB to be traded.  Each of the past few seasons, I've traded late round picks to teams w/ an abundance of FAAB to cover myself for late season injury replacements

Our FAAB doesn't carry over.

We trade FABB dollars and in 7 years I have never seen a player straight up traded for $$$'s. Only seen $$$'s added to sweeten the pot and help push a trade through. As for the"Steinbrener" thing, "that owner" would have to pull off an outrages amount of trades to accomplish such dominance. With that said. it's not anything that has even remotely come up as a possible issue. Overall, I like it and would advocate it to anyone!

Does Yahoo allow trading of FAAB?   Our league allows trading of bidding money for our auction draft the following year.

Yes, but it rarely happens. I've done once or twice to get additional dollars to ensure getting the top player on the wire. It's usually someone that you don't need that still has some trade value. We've never traded a significant player for $.

No we don’t allow trading FAAB. We do use real $ which makes it more interesting and increases the pot

In the leagues I run FAAB bucks are not only tradeable, but they roll over from year to year.  Also when they are given out each offseason the amount goes in reverse order of finish (IE the worst team gets the most, the second worst team gets the second most, etc).  However these leagues are a little unique as they are contract leagues so the $$ is used not only in-season, but in off-season restricted free agency as well.

My other dynasties that I don't run are FFPC, which unfortunately does not allow the trading of FAAB.

Either way, I don't think people whining about how much they would or would not have paid relative to someone else's trade is a reason to make a decision one way or another.  Those same people are just going to whine about trades involving draft picks, players, etc.

Traded Moncrief for $10 ($200 FAAB) a couple of weeks ago so I could open up a spot for Mckinnon.

In other words, yes. Definitely can trade FAAB.

love trading FAAB, it's usually a final "sweetner" added to deals to get them done.... a few years ago when Leveon got hurt there was a FAAB trading frenzy the night before waivers as a few owners were trying to stockpile the most FAAB budget so they could buy deangelo williams the following day on waivers... in ESPN leagues the commish has to manually move the FAAB money

in the league i commish, i made it so once the playoffs start all teams FAAB is reset to $50 regardless of how much money you have in the bank after week 13.

I often think that complaints like these are rarely really about the complaint in question. The underlying and true concern is usually something else - like worry that the league is becoming too complicated/sophisticated or that the complainer is struggling with the valuation of players (trades and FA transactions). Throwing FAAB dollars into the mix is upping the degree of difficulty and some people don't want it.

I'm not sure I'd do it in redraft or any leagues where it didn't carry over.  FAAB value will fluctuate greatly in those leagues.  I am in dynasty leagues where FABB $ roll over and are used in RFA the following spring, so there is no "use it or lose it" urgency late in the season.  Being able to trade $ in these leagues is pretty much a must.
