Does anyone see any free agents signing before the CBA expires (1 Viewer)

I believe free agency opens febuary 26th which would leave players 6 days to sign with another team before the CBA expires. Is there any chance of the top free agents such as DeAngelo Williams, Mercedes Lewis, Sidney Rice or Ahmad Bradshaw signing in that period of time.

Honestly, No. The teams won't be too hot to trot because why pay a player for a year if they are locked out? I just think there is too much uncertainty for everyone right now. It will make this frustrating off season for fantasy owners as we won't be able to project value nearly as well.

Players with less than six years of service can be offered a restricted free agency tender.

I'm not ready for my annual brush up on what all these tags and such mean. I simply wanted to say I highly doubt the guys you listed just walk like a typical unrestricted free agent.

I believe the reason for the March deadline for the CBA is because that is the Fiscal year turnover date for the NFL. I don't believe unrestricted free agents can sign before the new fiscal year.

Correct. Contracts last through the last day of the fiscal year. The only players who can sign new deals before the lockout are players who were released (so their old contracts are no longer in effect) and players who want to re-sign with their current clubs. But most teams are going to be very hesitant to make any new signings since they don't yet know how much next year's salary cap will be, if there will be one. There's a chance the cap will be a good $15M to $25M less than it was in 2009, and teams are going to have to squeeze their current players' deals under that new lower cap figure, which means a lot less money spent on free agents (which is yet another reason why the Raiders were idiotic for signing Seymour to that enormous contract).

on one of the nfl shows this week, it was stated that FAs can resigned with their teams, FAs w/o contracts can sign anywhere, but players under contract do not become FAs until a new CBA is signed.

There are no FAs other that guys that have been cut. They are not FAs until the new league year which starts March 4th, however with no CBA on March 4th no one can sign. So to answer your question the only guys that can sign right now are ones who are not under contract like, S Rodgers, B Sanders and Shockey. I expect to see those guys sign.
