Does FWP's injury affect other studs PT pre-Playoffs? (1 Viewer)

A few RBs are in situations where they don't need to finish their games for their teams to win.

Earnest Graham, LT, Addai, could all be benched earier than usual in light of the FWP injury.

No doubt, it got a few coaches thinking...

Also, is there any way to factor this into FBG projections, or is that already factored in?

FWP went down EARLY in the game. No way to predict that. Dungy is resting some players and most won't play a full game.

Dungy said he is not resting players this week.
Cryptic language. Please decipher. Sounds like you can't be sure of ANY player to play a full game."Colts coach Tony Dungy suggested this week that he might substitute some second-team players in for starters against Houston on Sunday.

"I envision some guys playing the whole game – other guys getting rest," he said. "I don’t think it will be just wholesale substitutions, ‘OK, this unit’s out.’ But we want to get some guys in there in the heat of battle with guys they may be playing with in the playoffs." The Colts also say their main goal is to go 14-2. Dungy also indicated that the players who practiced this week will face Houston. The Indianapolis media hasn't made a big issue of the situation, so we'd have a hard time benching any Colts."

The Chargers have already shown that they'll keep LT from harm's way if they don't need him in. But until their seed is locked, teams will still be looking to win. TB is still jockeying for 3rd seed as are the Chargers. Indy is locked in so I could see some rest for Addai. But this is an issue every year, FWP's injury doesn't affect anyone's decision any more or less than usual. What I want to know is why the rash of broken fibulas. Just off the top of my head there's Lorenzo Neal (grass), Shockey (field turf, but his foot wasn't planted) and FWP (I didn't see how it broke). And I know there was a fourth but I can't remember who it was.

I have to believe the HC's would MUCH rather be the #4 seed and get a home game with LT, Graham etc...rather than a #3 without them.1st goal=make playoffs2nd goal=make playoffs as healthy as possible. What a bone headed thing it would be to lose LT et al in a game that could end up being meaningless.

But you can't predict injuries. You can predict that being the #3 seed improves your chances at reaching the playoffs. If, somehow, the #1 and #2 seed lose, and you didn't rest your players, then you get to play at home in the championship game. That is reason enough to "risk" playing your players when you can improve your seed.

First off, who is Graham and why do the Chargers need him?Second, no one will know if it's meaningless until the end of next week, so at gametime the game is not meaningless at all. As pointed out, a 3 seed gives you a better chance than 4 of hosting a conference championship game. That is meaningful. IF by gametime the Chargers have the #3 seed locked up (I don't know if that's possible and I'm too tired to look) then risking injury is meaningless. But as long as they are fighting for 3rd, it's a normal game situation.

1st and a half goal: position your team as best as possible in the playoffs and go in focused, sharp and with rythm and momentum.

The Chargers showed no hesitation whatsoever in resting their starters when the game was in hand so I think they will get them out as soon as they can if possible. But there is still something to play for that IMO is more likely than an injury to a key player.

Look at the Pats, they have home field clinched and their starters will all play, probably more than the first half too. That is a meaningless risk. The Chargers are still jockeying, LT and Graham (?) will still play
