Does having a QB1 and RB1 from the same NFL (1 Viewer)

I was just wondering if anyone has had success having their QB and RB1 from the same team. My guess is it may hurt bc usually a team either has its running game or passing game clicking, but not both in the same game. That would obviously lead to either your QB or top RB almost guaranteed to not have a great week every week. Thoughts? Experiences?

I have Bulger/S. Jackson and just made a trade to get Holt. I'm in second place in my divsion, two games behind the first place guy (Redraft league).

Great info thanks...my particular dilemna is whether or not to trade for bulger since I have sjax already....

I don't like having all of my eggs in one basket. If you owned Bulger, Holt, and Jackson last week........of course your team did well.

However, one key injury to a stud offensive linemen effects all 3 of those players, to where if you had 3 stars spread out on other teams, it wouldn't be such a problem.

Of course, if everything goes perfect.....like it did last week having 3 great players from the same team can be great.

However, on one team I did have Holt and Bulger last year and had an awesome start. Then Bulger threw a pick and tried to make the tackle and that was the beginning of the end as he was never really the same after that last season. Not having Bulger in there really hurt the entire offense.

So..........can it work, ya it can work. But I'd rather have my studs spread out.

I have Carson Palmer and Rudi Johnson in two leagues......... Im one of the highest scoring teams in both leagues. What is does is create consistancy. IMO it can be a good thing, but only if you have the right combo.

Doug Drinen's research indicates that owning a QB1 and RB1 from the same team can make your team slightly more consistent. LINK

The simple way of looking at this situation is that as an owner, you are likely to get a piece of every TD this team scores. It doesn't matter whether they run it in or pass to score. You won't likely have huge weeks since rarely will both the RB and the QB have huge weeks at the same time. However, you also won't have too many very low weeks.

Obviously, you want to be selective and choose only strong offenses when pairing a QB and RB from the same team. And you are more affected by injuries on that particular team. Finally, once in awhile your team will suffer when a defensive struggle and/or bad weather affects both players.

I'm not sure that this strategy should be purposely pursued on a regular basis. However, it is not something to be avoided at all costs either.

If your QB is Steve McNair and your RB is Jamal Lewis, then yes it hurts. If your QB is Donovan McNabb and your RB is Brian Westbrook, then it doesn't hurt at all.

I know this sounds crazy, but I would stay away from Bulgar due to his upcoming schedule. They play a lot of good defenses in the next couple of weeks. @SD@Sea@CarolinaChicago@MinnAlso, and this is key. When was the last time Bulgar played a full 16 games? I've watched some of the Rams games, and he is getting sacked, A LOT. Not good. Bulgar is a perfect Sell High candidate right now. Just be aware of what your trading for if you decide to trade for him. This is just my opinion. Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.

Eli and Tiki in PPR league - Seems to be working well with all the touches Tiki gets - Got first loss of season last week.

Only problem is that also have Plax and usually do not start in case of Giants' offensive collapse and he would seem most vulnerable (Other WRs are DJax, Reggie Wayne, Muhsin Muhammad, and Greg Jennings - Start 2 WRs plus a flex, but always use RB here because have Tiki, Rudi, McGahee, and Deuce).

Uh.......you conveniently forgot home games for Bulger verse Chiefs, 49ers, Cardinals and Redskins and a road game verse the mighty Raiders. It should also be noted that as the weather gets bad in the winter.....that the Rams play five of their last six games in a cozy warm dome (4 at home) and the one game that isn't in a dome is in California (Raiders). So, IMHO.....Bulger schedule sets up very nice.

The QB and RB need to be involved in a high scoring offense for obvious reasons. If they get shut-out you're in trouble.

A few years ago I had Trent Green and Priest Holmes and I was getting consistent numbers every week when you comined their scoring.

No.The concept is really quite simple.Draft the players who you project to score the most points.

i have bledsoe/jones/glenn. I only start bledsoe in obvious weeks though. they do all tend to gets theres' ok.

McNabb, Westbrook, Reg Brown6-0
Same situation for me ... McNabb/Westbrook/Brown6-0In 1999 the combo of McNair/George led me to a championship.I think the QB/RB combo can be more dominating than the ever-popular QB/WR hookup. If the game turns into a blowout for your players' team, the QB/WR might get diddly-squat in the 2nd half of said game. With the QB/RB - you get points for almost every offensive TD the team scores. Also, captain obvious says that the QB/RB only works with decent NFL teams ... don't try it with TEN, CLE, or OAK this season.
